Alien Rock, I only heard of the concept once. I was on Navy Pier and there was a small store selling odd paraphernalia that dealt with smoking herbs and space. I had 0 time for smoking herbs but the alien stuff was alarming. On one button a giant grey alien head was featured with the following words.
ALIEN ROCK
FOREVER!
I balked at it and the storekeeper. He was not a fan of my attitude and told me to beat in. In my imaginative memory I remember smashing a glass bong on his head and telling him to go to hell. I probably did only one of those things. Try to guess which one. We can wait.
Welcome back! So I wonder where the evolution of rock music is going for the next decade. The current trend in music is spoken word over some plodding 90's Guitars or in the case of Coldplay a viola and cello. Rock has given up on being angry and we are left wondering what's next. This is where I thought of Alien Rock. Could music be reaching for the stars? Let's consider the similaries:
- Space seems everlasting, and so does the desire to create music
- Aliens are undiscovered, alot of music goes undiscovered
- Aliens ride spaceships, music rides on hooks and melodies
These are ideologies of space and music. They go hand in hand like Christians and hot after-funeral banquet food. So how do we make alien music then?
I don't know and I don't even CARE ANYMORE!
