Thanks a lot for the responses. I'll stick with 6:30 then.
Only five shitty hours of legal research left!

Is Liezl getting let in for the photo recap? If not will Steve Agee being taking pictures? Will Doug be getting "everyone" high?

I am utterly consumed with seething, venomous jealousy for all of you that got to go to this.
Holy Mother of Pearl! Funniest night ever. Gotta get to bed for now, but will write more tomorree. But any show with cameos by Jon Hamm, Weird Al, and Ben Stiller is an automatic winner.
Wow, I kind of wished I hadn't viewed this thread so I wouldn't have to know what I missed out on. And then I kept reading for some reason and saw that the cameos made it even more awesome. Fuck.
Amazing show. From the sound of things, the D is making a comeback!
What a fun show. Great to see some fellow ASTers (even though I was to scared to go talk to people. Saw Gene, Lizel, and Mr Blacklist)
Outstanding beyond belief. Such an amazing show that Scott and BJ put on every year and every Tuesday for that matter. Right after the big XMAS show I always realize just how ridiculously much I appreciate everything all of the comedians do and how awesome they all are to put these shows on for us fans. So thanks to everyone who put the show together and performed, I and I'm sure everyone else was blown away. I can't wait to see Liezl's pictures.
It was fucking awesome. I was the guy in the Dodgers hat. I still have no idea how I got to sit on stage.

Anyways, thanks to Scott and BJ, and all the performers for a truly amazing show. Also a thanks to Patton who apparently suplied most of the Xmas gifts that were handed out to audience members. My wife and I got a Patton CD/DVD and Todd Barry's album.
Paying the price at work today, but it was most definitely worth it.
Fuck. Yeah.
The new songs are really great, and reminded me why I loved these guys so much a decade ago (and felt the need to start a website devoted to them). This really had the feel of getting back to their roots -- not only doing a small-venue alt. comedy show with the guys they started with and having Paul introduce them, but forgoing the full band and just letting the acoustic power chords, two-part harmonies and Jack's epic vocal style carry the day.
In keeping with this revival, I'd love to provide an old school recap of the whole show, but I can't. I couldn't even tell you the names of the new songs the D played (there was a funny one dedicated to an archetypal roadie that makes a nice bookend to "The Road"). The opening song kind of said it all though: it started with a line about The Pick of Destiny being a bomb, and the critics writing them off, then imagined a world without The D (with a funny bit about all the fans who got D tattoos having to "laser them off"). Of course, this being the D, the song foretold a comeback, with the well-worn image of a phoenix rising from the ashes providing an appropriately mythic touch. I was a little surprised that when the guys came out, the reception wasn't as explosive as I assumed it would be -- Zach Galifianakis and Aziz Ansari probably got bigger ovations -- and as the D rolled through three new numbers it occurred to me that this wasn't a D crowd. This was a comedy crowd, the same type of audience they would've been playing to at Largo in 1998 (the only difference now being Jack's movie stardom, which frankly does him more harm than good amongst the Franklin Ave hipsterati). They got laughs, and rounds of applause after every song, but when they closed with the Abbey Road medley, and even more so when they returned to play "The Five Needs" for an encore (a true classic that, based on pre-song applause, only a dozen people in the room knew by name), I could see and feel the uninitiated sit up and take note, their eyes widening with surprise. Oh, this is Tenacious D! If they're earnest about a return to greatness, let the record show that the journey began at 1am on a Wednesday morning in Hollywood, with a hundred or so new fans converted.
Should have taped this for a charity download. I'd pay up to $30... or less.
Very well said, isoS. The three new songs were the one about their forthcoming return to greatness (phoenix rising from the ashes), "The Roadie" I think they called the second one, and the third one, called "Quantum Leap" sought out visionaries who can help heal the world. That third one included a list of people capable of doing so, which included Larry "Bud" Melman, Janeane Garofalo and Tenacious D, among others.
Apart from the performers listed on the poster, these people also appeared:
Samm Levine
Tig Notaro
Jon Hamm
Brandon Johnson
Michael Gladis
Ben Stiller
James Adomian
"Weird Al" Yankovic
Todd Barry (via phone)
Brody Stevens
Eddie Pepitone
Jackie Clarke
Mike Hanford as Dale the waiter
Kulap Vilaysack
A guy who played Tiger Woods
Thank you to everyone involved for an incredible night!
Also, for complete historical accuracy: although she was listed on the poster, Sarah Silverman did not appear.
And those who are wishing for a recording, Andy Kindler let it slip that the show was being taped for a possible release by Comedy Central. I am guessing he meant an Audio-only release (especially since I only saw one video camera, might have missed others). Don't know if that will come to fruition though.
Also, in terms of the D. I was psyched, but admit that I just didn't have the energy left for raucous reactions to them. Plus, the lights were dimmed and my eyes ever so tempted to close. But they brought it and I loved the new songs. And by the end I got my second-wind, was clapping along, and hoping they would play-on for another hour.
Didn't even list them in my top 10 above because I didn't think it necessary. Twas awesome.
