We shot this in Boston at the Wilbur Theater in October, it's new standup material David has been working on since his "It's Not Funny" performances 5 years ago.
It premieres as a one hour special Friday night April 9th on Epix, which is a cable channel that has limited distribution so far. They have a website that you can watch all their content on as well.

I'm pretty sure that if you register through the "Get an Invite Code" link at the top of their site you can watch everything free for a 7 day period.
Sub Pop are releasing a DVD on May 25th that we made out of this material plus a rash of other things we have shot over the years. Sub Pop are also releasing a CD of standup material from this tour, and we used different content on the CD from what is on the DVD.

Great news. I was just watching my "Let America Laugh" DVD a few days ago and wondering when he'd put out some new stuff.
Apparently the Arrested Development movie is dead.

That doesn't sound all that official to me. Although Hurwitz will be pretty busy with the Will Arnett show if it gets picked up.
I like David's idea of a UK-style Christmas special, but what would be so bad about an AD movie? The Strangers with Candy and Reno 911 movies weren't wonderful, but they didn't take away from the series(es) at all.
Yeah, I'm not surprised. No matter how many times somebody would say that it was on for sure, I wasn't going to believe it until the thing was actually in production. Besides, I think the show ended perfectly, so it won't exactly break my heart if the movie doesn't happen.
David called in to a radio show as tea-bagger Victor McCoy of the "Greater Illinois Chapter of the Tea Party Patriots and Sons" a couple of days ago. The host, Ian Masters, was in on it, but try to tell that to the Huffington Post commentators.

Just watched David's Bigger and Blackerer on Epix. Pretty great. I saw him do most of this material at UCB in September (the day before he left for this latest tour) and it was great. He did about 2 hours during that performance with a bunch of material not included in Bigger and Blackerer. He came out and did a song to start the show and I was really hoping that's how this special was going to start.
Well done Senior.

Watched Bigger and Blackerer. Really good. I think I would rank it above the Shut Up and It's Not Funny, and slightly below The Pride is Back, which is still my favorite David Cross performance. At any rate, I really like the direction he's going with his material. He maintains the tight social commentary of The Pride is Back and his Comedy Central Presents and the loose, venomous ranting of the first two CDs, but he adds a new personal element that I feel was largely not present in his previous body of material until the release of I Drink For A Reason, and it's an element I really, really, really enjoy.
The nerd in me loved the very brief reference to Squagels, and also the inclusion of a bit I've heard him doing on bootlegs dating back to before the release of the first CD.
All in all, a wonderful new set from the comic who first made me realize, more than any of the other ones I was listening to at the time (basically just Carlin, Attel, and Robin Williams), that standup comedy is an art form and a cultural treasure. I've been impatiently waiting since 2004 for some new material, gobbling up every bootleg and compilation appearance I could find (not to mention both the hardcopy and the amazing audiobook of I Drink For A Reason.) Now I have a whole new hour to listen to over and over again.
Seeing you mentioned your nerd-ness I'll reply in kind and point out I don't think David ever did a Comedy Central Presents. He has a half-hour HBO special that perhaps has aired on Comedy Central.
Yes, and don't forget perhaps my favorite David bit ever, "Minimum Wage."
I just posted information about a Mr. Show Mini-Reunion that I'm doing tonight here: http://aspecialthing.com/forum/f32/m...-4-15-a-16684/
Pretty much, I'm interviewing Dino Stamatopoulos, Jay Johnston, Jerry Minor, Eric Hoffman, Eban Schletter, Mark Rivers, and Brett Paesel and will be airing the original recordings of a number of Mr. Show songs including “Mouthful of Sores,” “Red Balloon,” “Halloween Shindig,” “Eww Girl,” “Marilyn Monster,” and many more.
The show is tonight, all the info on how to listen and submit questions is in that other post I linked to above!
Thanks!
Ethan
