Amtrak's at about $77 each way right now. About 18 hours from the bay area to here.
And if you ever DO need a car ride somewhere, you have AST friends in the area who both have vehicles and are often up for adventures.
pg--some of us will even be sober--a few hours north of bridgetown
We'll just take the fact that this was too long and that you didn't read it...as read.
Man, I thought I could go but now I can't.
Winter is Coming: Summer 2011.
I'll second Brewcaster's recommendation not to rent a car. You have almost door-to-door service between the airport, Hotel Fifty and the venues via public transit.
Here's the train that goes straight from PDX to the hotel in just over half an hour for $2.20: http://bit.ly/amogxf
And here's the bus that goes *almost* straight from the hotel to the area where the shows are in 20 minutes for $2: http://bit.ly/bnZpks
And it looks like PDX Pedicab (http://www.pdxpedicab.com) will have bikes in the area of the venues if you want to be escorted from show to show like a hipster C-3PO.
FUCK! It's already filled up. Any chance of an overflow discounted hotel?
Hey guys, I live in Portland and will be attending this stupid thing
and no you can't sleep on my floor. I live in a single room and I lead a private life

For hotel 50 there are discounts that are almost as good that you can get just by booking and paying more than 21 days in advance. There are still rooms available.
When will there be a lineup? Sorry for my impatience, but I am currently trying to whine my way into going and Mr. Chapina won't agree until we see a line-up.
I thought just booking the room would guarantee me a win but he's playing hardball you guys!

I can promise a lineup announcement some time this month. Trust me, you'll want to come.
I want to go to this, but not if the costs run up to $500. :\
anyone not scary interested in sharing a room? I can promise not murder you in your sleep.
A weekend full of great people, great comedy in a great town...that everyone who has ever been to in the previous years has come out glowing with excitement, singing praises about everything...and yet, you need an over-the-top line-up to convince you that it is worth your time?
Sigh.
The best things about Bridgetown are NOT the marquee headliners (although, to the Bridgetown crew's credit, those marquee headliners are awesome and amazing) but the unscheduled moments of wondrous joy that just seem to happen when you have incredible talent in an incredible place with no particular pressure placed on any of them to do anything but what might amuse them...
Bridgetown is about vibe and discovery...you're selling yourself short if you're interested in merely seeing someone you've already confirmed to yourself that you like and then weighing out the cost/benefit ratio about seeing that performer in Portland, Oregon.
Trust that the Bridgetown line-up will be amazing--after all, they haven't let us down yet...
pg--I'd recommend going to Bridgetown if it was just hanging out with Andy Wood and Ron Funches for the weekend...and a good time would still be had.--a few hours north of Bridgetown

The price for hanging out with me at Bridgetown is very affordable and the line-up is already set of weed naps, trips to Ground Kontrol, and sushi trains.
