I actually live a block away down Belmont and checked out the apartments on top of the Avalon when I was looking to move back to the neighborhood. As creepy as it is inside, nothing compares to the sheer terror of going down the stairs in the back to the laundry room: a single naked lightbulb lights your way to the washer/dryer, past cages and cages of hurricane fence storing discarded carnival decorations, all while the music and video game noise from the arcade filter down from above. If you're looking to get stabbed by a hobo in a dirty clown costume, that's the place for you! Fantastic thai restaurant next door, though.

South East Portland definitely gets very shady.

If you all just come to my house you will have a great time, get to play hoops with me, watch Beethoven 1 and 2 with me, and maybe I'll let you hang out with Heather.

    2 passes purchased!

Any idea when the actual schedule will be up? I can't afford 4 nights at a hotel, so I have to figure out if I should miss out on Thursday shows or Sunday shows before I make hotel and plane reservations. Thanks.

    Awww... what was the pic?

As for Thursday vs. Sunday, we're not going to have as many shows on Sunday night, but we'll have a big festival-closing blowout at the Bagdad Theater with Maria Bamford headlining. Thursday will have more shows, including the premiere of "I Am Comic" (I've seen it, and it's really good). Tough call on picking between those nights.

The schedule may not be posted for a couple more weeks because some of the key players are still juggling their schedules around -- in particular we have to nail down whether the Conan panel is going to be Friday or Saturday. Bear with us -- no matter what, the festival pass is the way to go.

Damn my brother and his stupid destination bachelor party a mere two weeks before this making me too broke to do both. I'm just going to pretend this event and thread don't exist, or else I will just cry for hours on end.

    Woops, I've already started.
Night gathers, and now my snark begins. It shall not end until it gets hacky. I shall take my wife(... please!), hold no lands, father no negative ratings. I shall wear no crowns and win no AST Top 20 Rankings. I shall live and die by my posts. I am the LOL in the darkness. I am the fire that burns against the trolls, the sneer that guards the realms of men from Kyle Cease's Comedy Boot Camp. I pledge my life and honor to the AST's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.
