Brian Regan on this podcast? My stomach is already hurting just from the thought of the laughs that will be had.

On the "everything else" front... I haven't heard any discussion of it, so I'm wondering if Jimmy and/or the gang has seen Errol Morris's film Standard Operating Procedures. It's amazing and infuriating. So much that went on in Abu Graib was never in the news, and those who were in the news were essentially scapegoats for a bigger problem.
Check it out if you haven't.
Seconded. There was also a mention of one James Pardo. Exciting news.
The way Jimmy spoke of Bill Burr made it sound like perhaps the guys know him well enough to get him on the show. I don't think he lives in LA but here's hoping that happens. He seems like a podcast natural, although I've yet to hear him on one, and I'm sure he's got opinions about the kind of stuff C&EE covers.
Bill Burr recently moved to LA and has a weekly podcast of his own you should check out if you're a fan.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. I can't wait to listen. He's been doing his podcast since 07? Where the hell have I been?
Maybe with the move he'll become a part of the incestuous LA podcasting scene too. Love that guy.
Steve Agee doesn't listen to this fucking podcast.
Dragons, Pudding, and Squares!
Last couple of shows have been great. Jimmy and Todd are funny as always, it's good anytime Matt chimes in, but Stephanie in particular has been more active in the show lately. I'm glad to hear that, it strengthens the podcast.
I wonder if the guy Jimmy said whose name he didn't remember, but that he saw giving financial advice on television, was Dave Ramsey? I appreciate what Suze Orman does, but I've also heard her give advice I don't agree with. I am more a fan of Ramsey's show and "The Total Money Makeover."
Ramsey's site is HERE, but a good objective blog entry that analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of Ramsey's show and system is HERE, if you'd rather check that out first.
My take on it is, I basically like the guy, he has a good heart, and his system is very sound. Him and his staff actually give away copies of his books and often gives free personal finance classes for people in dire trouble. Personally, my finances are a lot better off now for having utilized his system.
Just so you know and aren't taken off guard...
He's not shy about his evangelical Christian background (a lot of churches host the aforementioned personal finance classes), and he sometimes assumes his audience or the person calling into his show at that moment shares the same beliefs, at least that's how it seems when he quotes scripture or asks about the person's church (he often tells couples they shouldn't combine their finances until they are married, and thinks living together before then is a mistake). But he has had rabbis on as guests, has read letters on the air from self-identifying atheists (I forgot the context of it and why it came up), and I've never heard him say a judgmental thing about anyone whose religious beliefs differ from his.
His TV show is on Fox Business Network, and he openly admits to having voted for Bush (he usually brings it up before a "but..." and then ripping into the Bush Administration for the economic crisis), but otherwise seems libertarian, has criticisms about both major political parties when talking about their unwise spending, and otherwise doesn't get into his own political views or party affiliations (if he even has any). He's more concerned about giving people good financial advice and inspiring people to get out of debt and stop using credit cards, so I'm able to tolerate that he's probably not a total left-leaning bleeding heart like me (classifying him as a Republican or even totally a conservative would only be an assumption... I don't recall him ever confirming, and sometimes people's politics aren't partisan).

Nope I'm sure it's Larry Winget, who had an A&E show called Big Spender. Great show. According to his blog, the show was very popular, but couldn't stay on the air because you can't find sponsors for a show that tells people not to but unnecessary crap.
Hi guys -- longtime listener, first time poster. I really enjoyed your discussion about Suze Orman & finances in general, and it led me to download the (free) Oprah webcast with Orman. While you can't download her book for free anymore, you can get her fico package for $25 until Jan. 23. That's 50% off, and it includes 3 pre-paid fico score checks (each of which costs $15 otherwise) and a couple of sort of fun/useful tools. If anyone's interested, go to www.oprah.com/fico
Thanks for all the shows
(and I love all the comedy discussion too -- it's great to hear what's going on in LA and on the road while I'm in New York.)

Dear Todd,
Don't let chiropractic become a dealbreaker for your health insurance. Many chiropractors are utter quacks, and even if you find one with a conscience, they don't provide any benefits you couldn't get from legitimate physiotherapy and massage.
Indeed - check this out if you're reading, guys:
