Great interview. Why'd you post this in this thread, though?

I thought this was the catch-all thread? I apologize if it's in the wrong place. I don't spend as much time on AST as I should

This thread is for a podcast called Comedy And Everything Else, not actually for comedy and everything else.

But it's kinda funny you'd think that.

Yeah, what bridgetosolace said. I moved your interview to its own thread.

D'oh. I'm clearly retarded. I even listened to the PFT ep of C&EE. My apologies. I'll get my head out of my ass at some point.

Would Phish be considered a better live band? I don't know because I just don't care.

I just thought of another crowd worker: Craig Shoemaker. I'm starting to agree more and more with Jimmy

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

I hereby apologize for justifying Todd's need to preface.

Pardo's the first person I think of when I hear the term "crowd work", so that's what I jumped to.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

I am glad to see that the crowd work topic is of interest to so many.

Let me say that my comments about crowd work do not include JImmy PArdo. JImmy Pardo is he funniest guy I have ever met. I could watch him read the phone book and it would be funny, that usually is an exaggeration to prove a point, but I would actually enjoy watching Jimmy Pardo read the phone book, he would make it hysterical.

ALthough he amazing off the cuff, I can quote many of Pardo's bits off the top of my head and wish he would do more...

But my crowd work comments go for everyone else.

I have a feeling this will come up when Jimmy Pardo is back on CaEE and I can not wait!

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

I didn't think Jimmy meant Pardo when he talked about crowdwork being lazy and all that. I didn't really make that clear in my post...if I've learned anything from this podcast it ought to be the importance of prefacing. I love Pardo and it's quite clear that Jimmy, Todd and Stef do too.

I'll stick to my guns a little bit though, in that I think the part about crowdwork not translating well to a CD maybe does apply to Pardo...just as 5 minutes on a late night talk show isn't really the proper format for people to understand why he's so great. I'd much rather see him on the panel. That's why NNF is so good, it's the absolute perfect venue for him. Fitzsimmons can shit on podcasts all he wants (I don't know anyone who pays for Sirius) but I'm gonna go ahead and predict that there might be something to this whole internet thing.

I pay for Sirius, for Stern. That is it.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

Yeah, actually, the majority of people that probably do subscribe to Sirius, probably do it only for Stern, which gives them Fitzsimmons.

Not that I agree with him about podcasts - btw, was he shitting on them? or was that part of the banter?

I'm sure he was mostly joking, as was I. My book's gonna be called I'm One-Quarter Serious And Three-Quarters Unnecessarily Mean.

    Jimmy,

I know a guy in the circus that can fuck himself, so I think you owe him an apology.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

I'd like to hear Todd and Jimmy's thoughts about the prospects for success at The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club, specifically about this part:

The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club offers comedy-lovers an alternative to the standard-issue "black box" stage and dimly-lit showroom.

“The Club will be bright and tropical; there will be palm trees on the stage and the waitresses will smell like coconut oil,” adds funnyman Jon Lovitz. Lovitz’s vision of a light, casual club serves as a backdrop for some of Hollywood’s funniest stand-up comics.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

And it turns out that the stage actually is PART of the bar.

Will it have hot lady bartenders in cowboy hats that light the bar on fire and then dance on it during the comedy? And will John Goodman be there for no good reason at all playing Piper Perabo's father?
