Thread: Comedy and Everything Else

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

Yeah I had the file up for about 3 minutes this morning before i pulled it because of a nice big 4 minute gap of no audio. according to what i saw only 38 (actually 92) of you got a hold of the bad file. But the feed remained, hence the error messages. The new one is up and happy.

Great episode. Everything PFT does is gold. I love hearing about what comedians love and hate about clubs and comedians, it never gets old to me. that and crazy road stories/audience members

Thanks. Matt, I love that you are clearly not just involved with this thing, but seem interested and appreciative for the feedback and interaction with the fans. Also, couldn't help but notice while listening today that you played the Dave Matthews Band song, then my wife pointed out that it was really just the sax solo. Very nice, subtle tribute.
I haven't listened to the PFT one yet, but I'm glad to hear this. A couple of discussions was okay for me, but I feel a little hit over the head with the hitting discussion.

Paul made an excellent point about the de-mystification of comedy. On quite a few of my interviews the subject has noted that a big moment for them was when they came to the conclusion that comedians were people just like themselves, as opposed to some sort of super-person capable of great feats of humor, which meant that they to could do what their idols did.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

great episode (thought I still have about 45 minutes to go).
I knew about Paul's incident with Cap City Comedy here in Austin, but it kind of ripped my heart a little to hear him say "I'll never go back again".
Not that I don't fully understand.

This show keeps getting better and better.

My only concern, still, is the volume levels still fluctuate a little too much, but it's coming together.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

might be my favorite episode yet. the part about really squeezing everything you can out of a bit really inspired me to go over my whole act again and see if i can't add a little more.

Did anyone notice that Todd almost seems to be doing more unintentional yelling into the mic now that the levels are being worked on, or is it just me? Still the best podcast I've heard.

    Finally listened to the newest.

Goddamn that was a good one. Thanks guys. PFT's point of view is dreamy.

I loved that point too. But since I haven't performed for a long time, and don't have any plans to, I'll just go see comics, and when they switch topics too quickly, I'll shout out, "Is that all you got?!" I think they will appreciate my encouragement.

This probably belongs in the Open Mic Thread or the non-existant PFT Q/A thread but my question is when faced with a 3 to 5 minute time limit on an open mic where is the room to mine the funny? Is there a rambling joke for the 20 minute set, a tighter 10 minute version and a quickie for the tiniest amount of stage time?

I think it was a three cell-phone camera shoot.

I love this podcast, the personalities all work so well together and are obviously great friends, I even love the loose format.

EDIT: Long unnecessary complaint about the levels deleted..
