Guess what... We're all human beings. Thus, we're all different. We all have our positive and negative traits, at least in a relative sense. You, Barrabus, might be able to get to the point more quickly than Todd. On the other hand, I think Todd would be a more fun person to hang around because he's funny and not nearly as judgmental as you.

edit: I don't want to turn this into a fight thread, so this will be my last defensive post.

If Todd was really such a stressful person to talk to, why would so many comedians be good friends with him? He prefaces too much, but he also loves to be teased for it. Listen to any of the CDRs where Scott and Paul F tease him throughout the episode. He's naive and gullible, but there's a charm to it that almost anybody would find appealing.

Who said he was a stressful person to talk to?

Can we all agree that Green Day is both awesome and gay, and move the fuck on?

I respect someone who can see the possible holes in their own argument way more than someone who speaks in absolutes and lacks self-awareness. Todd rules.

This episode made me so happy. Just so, so happy. I loved every second. I loved Todd's diatrobe on the Kyle Cease episode. The moment when he pointed out that you can listen to podcasts if your want to hear headliners' opinions was a total YES! moment, because I'd been thinking that the whole time. And I loved the other rant about satillite radio comedy, because almost all my non-podcast entertainment comes from satillite radio. At first, I thought the whole argument against how there's a "clean" comedy station is kind of a moot point, as you don't really have to listen to it, but the point about how the content is mean and shitty anyway made so much sense that I was converted. If I had a kid, I'd care less about them hearing the word fuck than hearing a joke like "My Jewish friend married a Japanese woman and their kid is named Sosumi," which I have heard for real on that station, non-ironically and in someone's act.

Anyway, glad to hear Jerry Seinfeld again. Pitch-perfect.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

I was definitely turned off from the podcast by the viewer response episode that seemed to be an exercise in back patting, but Todd's ranting actually almost made up for that.

I've said in the past how much I think it hurts the show that there's no real third party to speak up when Jimmy goes on the rampage. Stef, as great as she is, does tend to cheerlead and follow what Jimmy says. The viewer response episode was the epitome of that. If they would have just waited and used this episode as the response, I think the backlash would have been lessened.

Todd might not have gotten to the point instantly, but following his train of thought and getting to what he was trying to say made his message that much more important in my eyes. And having Todd there on the rampage seemed to give Jimmy time to breath and when he did interject or add information it definitely helped his case more than the viewer email episode did. Just explaining why he kept using "some people say" put those prior two episodes in a whole new light and I could understand why he did it. That definitely helped argue his case better than gloating about being the Michael Phelps of comedy.

Aw, another late Tuesday podcast? I hope this is the 3rd part in the Comedy Boot Camp saga. Will they get Louie Anderson on? Will some people have more things to say? Will Kyle Cease cease charging $3000 for wildly improbable results? I'm on tenterhooks here, people!

The high voice thing of people trying to pretend like they are not bragging could really just be a Jay Leno impression. "I never spend my TONIGHT SHOW MONEY"

    Great episode.

As soon as Gulman got into explaining the entire plot of Karate Kid I fuckin' knew he wasn't gonna do the bit.

Jimmy: ....That's good pot, right Gary?

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

The first time I went to a comedy club, I saw Mr. Gulman do a surprise guest set at the Comedy Studio in Boston. I think I laughed at every sentence he spoke, and at some of the pauses in between. Freaking amazing.

I was floored when I heard he'd be recording a CD there.

WHY MUST IT BE THURSDAY. WE HAVE WORK ON FRIDAY, GARY, C'MON!
    I'm a MAN, dammit!

Gary was so great. I love that he is basically playing a character for most of his appearances. It makes it a lot of fun to listen to.

Just heard the Nerdist podcast that had Fred Willard on it, I would love to hear him on CAEE.

YAAAAY MATT BESSER! I haven't even listened to it yet, but Matt Besser always brings the funny.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

I really can't wait to hear Jimmy's opinion on what he saw, and go any farther or deeper with Cease.

That being said, WOW, Matt Besser absolutely kills it. Just destroys. If I heard nothing else it would be fine.
Concise, logical, completely clear, and basically undebatable. I don't know how you argue with "NO! Improv is a completely different skill set and the way we teach is it is undeniably legit. The way you described your 5 day $3,000 class for 2 full episodes gave no impression that it's anything but "Think super positive! Listen to this famous comedian who's pockets we've lined! Smile for the camera!" Awesome.

listening to the Matt Besser ep right now and it's great.

    Re: Comedy and Everything Else

Yeah, Besser brings up tons of good points I wouldn't have thought of on my own, due to stupidity. But, really, the whole drawing/glassblowing analogy is pitch perfect. I'm currently taking improv classes at Second City and it's a whole different world than standup; I'd never quite been able to explain it but now I have the brilliant Matt Besser to thank for allowing me to do so.

Really excited for today's finale with Cease.
