CBTN "BEST OF 2008"
Ahh, what a comedy year it's been. Here are just a few of our awards for the year 2008:
CBTN MOVIE OF THE YEAR: Role Models
"CBTNnie" AWARD WINNER FOR HER USE OF #34 (DRUGGIE HUMOR): Jane Lynch in Role Models
OUR COMEDIENNE OF THE YEAR IS…Sarah Palin. The Sarah Palin experience single-handedly saved many classic comedy numbers from extinction, including: #14 (Catchphrases), #28 (Difficulty With Numbers), #43 (Extended Explanations), #44 (Facial Expressions), #49 (Funny Glasses), #52 (Funny Slang), #61 (Inappropriate Behavior), #64 (Kids Doing Things Grown-Ups Do / Bristol getting pregnant), #76 (Mispronunciation of Words), #79 (Mistaken Identity), #110 (Racial Humor), #113 (Retards/Mentally Challenged), #117 (Scare Comedy), #137 (The Delayed Reaction), and of course #139 (The Elderly and Their Foibles). In the end, it appears the public wasn't ready for another #125 (Someone Where They Shouldn't Be) callback.
AND SPEAKING OF CLASSIC COMEDY BITS: We've been hearing some comedians griping about how hard it's going to be to make jokes about President Obama. We say, have patience. Comedy has a way of showing up in the most unfunny places. In the meantime, why not revisit some older bits and try and spruce 'em up a little? Eg: #18 (Conducting An Orchestra), #122 (Slapping). With World War II making a comeback at the box office, the time is prime for another "Inadvertent Hitler Moustache Routine" - wherein a substance (paint, cream from a doughnut, etc.) is accidentally adhered to a subject's upper lip in the shape of a Hitler moustache OR their moustache is purposely trimmed down to resemble Hitler's moustache by a mischievous barber or someone posing as a barber, thus making the subject look like a fool (and Hitler).
COMEDY WE'LL MISS: Harvey Korman, George Carlin, Jim Hager, Richard Jeni, Bernie Mac, Heath Ledger, Rudy Ray Moore, Dody Goodman, Dick Martin, Lydia Sum Tin-ha, Miguel Galván, Bernard Manning, Eartha Kitt, Sidney Pollack, Edie Adams, Paul Benedict, Ivan Dixon, Estelle Getty, David Groh, Don LaFontaine, Paul Newman, Bettie Page, Suzanne Pleshette, Jerry Reed, Roy Scheider, Stan Winston.
Have a funny one!
Prof. Hoffman & Dr. Rudoren
