"I'm persona non regatta around there...do you know what that means?"
"You're...not in a yacht race".

HBO's "Flight of the Conchords" returns Sunday for Season 2, and this time around, fans will be able to purchase music from each episode the day after it airs.
An as-yet-untitled album featuring 10 tracks from the show plus five additional songs will be available April 14, shortly after the conclusion of the 10-episode season. The first song, "Angels," goes live Jan. 19 on iTunes. Fans also can preorder the album through SubPop.com and receive one track per week.
The New Zealand duo, whose bumbling adventures in life and the music business are at the heart of the show, has emerged as one of the biggest success stories in comedy during the past two years.
Its 2007 Sub Pop debut, the EP "The Distant Future," won a Grammy for best comedy album. And its self-titled full-length, released in April, has sold 237,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and is up for a Grammy in the same category.
Because the songs used in the show often are only a minute long, the versions on the album will be quite different.
"More than one of them leans on a '70s soul sound," Sub Pop head of A&R Tony Kiewel SAID. "I've also heard this choir-y sort of thing, a Meat Loaf-y sort of thing and a crazy top 40-type jam."
Mickey Petralia, who produced the debut, is back on board, while Kiewel said Sia provides backing vocals on at least one song. A North American tour is being targeted for April or May.
In case anyone missed part of season one, it's currently all on HBO On Demand (at least on my cable company). I caught up with a few episodes I'd missed this last weekend and am now ready and excited for the new eps!
Lets hope all the awards and praise keeps them making the show, but its not looking that way.
Didn't see this posted yet

I just re-watched the last ep of the 1st season (the one with Todd Barry and Demetri Martin) and oh-my-god i cannot stop laughing about the Doggy Bounce song.. in particular "Doggy do’s and doggy don’ts/Doggy will’s and doggy won’ts". Man that just puts such a smile on my face. I also love Todd's delivery on "... we're the Crazy Dogs. With three g's and a z."
That may be one of my favorite eps of the first season. It's a toss up between that and the Will Forte one (the hiring an actor to pretend to be a record executive to make murray feel better is such a funny idea). I can't wait for the new season.
I was really impressed with the season premiere. It's amazing that the Conchords can be that funny that fast considering that most of the plot lines and songs from season 1 were developed over the course of years.
Here's hoping HBO throws a lot of money at them to come back for a season 3. I can't be alone in thinking that FotC would be just as good if they scaled back the songs and did more narrative-based stuff.
Flight of the choncords is amazing! I love it haha
i enjoyed the premiere and am in no way trying to rain on this nice little Flight of the Conchords parade we've got going on.... but...
did anyone else feel like we basically were given a half hour episode to just get us back to square one? Obviously that was just one episode, so the rest of the season will tell, i just dont know why the exact status quo was something we needed to get back to right away. Again... big fan, small quibble.
Poor Murray.
And Jemaine's little weird vocal take after Arj was telling them about "deals" - hilarious.
the next two episodes are the Male Prostitutes and Brett's Gang 'the tough bretts' episodes that they've made mention of and to in recent interviews. Entertaining episodes overall but the musical numbers were possibly the weakest part of the show for me... oddly enough.
They're showing the Season Premiere again. Weird.
sWalker, I think Rhys Darby kind of explains the necessity to get back to square one in his recent interview with AV Club:
"People don't want anything too different. I think what they really want is 20 brilliant new songs, and then stuff in between them that's similar to what happened last time, but maybe in different settings. You've got the apartment, you've got the office, you've got Dave's shop, and then you've got out on the streets of Manhattan or whatever. And Mel and Doug popping up. And as soon as you go, "Right, let's take it out of this and go to Hawaii," you start to go into one of those TV shows where you go "Now look at them, they've gone to London for the weekend." Those episodes of shows never seem to work as well."
Sure, I'll agree it may have been a bit hurried, but I also completely agree with his quote here. I like the little world they created in season 1.
Anyway, don't expect things to be much different this season.
Read the rest of the interview here, I found it nice to hear Murray's perspective:
