I like Murray more than anything on this show at this point. He makes me laugh nearly everytime he's on screen.
let me go on record as saying that i'm totally a fan of flight of the conchords, the band in the show. this episode's dis song and all the other "live show" songs have been great.
"We'll let this go because we don't like that particular kid."
"Jemaine's talking about Jemaine, Bret."
That was a great third act.
I'm blown away by this, but FOTC have apparently chosen Tampa (my home town) as the first stop of their North American tour. I'm getting my tickets Friday. Can't wait!
"I heard of one rapper, he chopped this guy's whole body off. Just left the dick behind."
I'm not sure if she will be the opening act at every stop on their tour, but Kristen Schaal is listed as "special guest" for the Tampa performance.
The special guests vary by date. They are:
Kristen Schaal
Eugene Mirman
Arj Barker
Arj Barker AND Iron & Wine!

The Tough Brets I could take or leave, but I really want to join the Ballroom Dancers.
wait, are those all gangs or is that the lineup for the next gonerfest?
Going to the STL one for Eugene alone. Any other ASTers in Missouri ?
The new episode, "Murray Takes It To The Next Level", was not only my favorite episode of season 2 so far, but probably my favorite episode of the series (so far). A really great script, some of the best Mel moments, great guest star (Jim Gaffigan). Add all that to a really great final song and you have yourself an awesome episode.
"How does that feel? A taste of your own dick medicine"
I was kind of meh on this episode. It definitely had some funny moments, but I didn't like Mel's song very much and I felt the way Jemaine and Bret acted toward Gaffigan made them a bit unlikable (but maybe that's just because I really like Jim Gaffigan and felt bad for him).
Also, was it ever clear what happened to Murray's wife? We saw his house for the first time this ep and she clearly wasn't there.
I really liked this episode, but I'm disappointed that Mel's song isn't on Itunes. I thought it was really adorable.
Edit: George Carlin won the Grammy for Best Comedy Album, which was probably fitting, I guess.

What was up with Mel wearing a wig during her fantasy song? Blech!

I loved last night's episode. Jim was great! I think Murray and Mel account for about 75 percent of the laughs on the show anymore. Much of the time it seems Bret and Jemaine are almost playing the "straight men" to all the oddballs surrounding them. I'm not sure if this is a newish development, or if I'd just never analyzed it to that extent, or if they're simply writing funnier stuff for the peripheral characters. In any case, it's great.
On an unrelated-to-last-night topic, I was curious whether or not I should start buying the songs as they're released on iTunes or just wait for the entire album. I just read on SubPop's site that there will be a "complete my album" option once the full album is available, so buying songs now is akin to making down payments on the full album later while getting the immediate gratification of a new song each week.
