While the Squealy McFangirl part of me gets a little pouty whenever Mayer is slammed, I really liked this part of the podcast, particularly Kumail's take on Mayer's fame vs. trying to do relatable material. It's too bad he hasn't totally mastered that elementary lesson of using your own experience and perspective, because if he could do the type of material we've seen in youtube clips (the Carrie Underwood song, being in US magazine) that would be pretty great. Granted, he has bigger issues to take care of before getting on stage again.
