Waiting for mine to come in the mail. Best Buy had it on super sale and I grabbed it for $5
The last track, 'Salt and Pepper', is on par with anything on Tompkins' Impersonal. Really incredible storytelling.

In the Bill Simmons podcast interview with Bill Hader, Hader mentions that he and Mulaney tried to write a sketch based around his impression of "Buffalo Bill" Jamie Gumb from "Silence of the Lambs", where Gumb has his own talk show, but the results were "too dark" to ever air on SNL.

Man I was laughing like an idiot at that while my metro train was stuck on Friday. Trying so hard to hold it in, looking like even more of a fool. What an amazing story.
(Incidentally, I did a similar prank at a Chili's with Ricky Martin's "Shake Your Bon-Bon")
Oh and this CD ranks up there with Werewolves & Lollipops and Shut Up You Fucking Baby, as well as all the other greats.
Night gathers, and now my snark begins. It shall not end until it gets hacky. I shall take my wife(... please!), hold no lands, father no negative ratings. I shall wear no crowns and win no AST Top 20 Rankings. I shall live and die by my posts. I am the LOL in the darkness. I am the fire that burns against the trolls, the sneer that guards the realms of men from Kyle Cease's Comedy Boot Camp. I pledge my life and honor to the AST's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.
nothing bugs me more than a cd not on cddb. when i worked at a place that ripped cds, i used to use our database to fill in some of the blanks on theirs.
I'd owned this from release date but hadn't listened to it...so, I brought this cd with me to Bridgetown (because what I needed, after being drowned in incredible comedy, is to fill every spare moment with even more comedy!) and I listened to it as I was driving around Portland on Sunday before the Bridgetown schedule started.
As I was listening, I was familiar of some of this already, having seen John perform live at Bumbershoot a couple of years ago...but this cd captures him at a very confident point in his career. His delivery--a mixture of Birbiglia-esque self-astonishment, wise beyond his years...and a smart-aleck with a gift for East Coast voices--is strong and distinct throughout.
Loved the Law & Order stuff...loved the King Solomon bit (which is actually where the cd title comes from, kevin)...it's strong the whole way through.
I pulled up to my parking spot, about to head to the Bar of the Gods, just as the Salt & Pepper Diner bit started...and I simply couldn't leave the car. As a music fan...as a Tom Jones fan...I was right there in that diner...feeling every step of the story as if it was happening to me--and John's slightly behind the audience's mind delivery provided a perfect amount of tension that his explanations would perfectly release.
I was laughing so hard, I was crying...and I simply couldn't show up for my shift, stage managing at the BOG, with tears running down my face. After the CD ended, I gave myself a little extra time to compose myself...still laughing as I thought about what I'd just heard.
Excellent work and a worthy addition to the collection!
pg--My wife is a huge L&O fan and she appreciated the accuracy of the L&O bit. So, thumbs up from both of us.--seattle
