Thread: Kyle Cease

Oh, I don't know if I mentioned this here but about a month ago I got into a huge argument with Kevin Cease on Facebook where he basically threatened to blacklist me from LA's comedy scene. Kyle got involved near the very end. The argument was over a Kyle Cease quote that a friend of mine had posted that I completely disagreed with. The friend was someone who started doing stand-up at my university but kept himself distant from the on-campus comedy club for some reason, then moved out to LA and apparently became all buddy-buddy with Kyle.

The offending quote in question was:
"People who aren't successful love to talk bad about people who are. That way they can justify why they chose to fail." - Kyle Cease

So, naturally, I responded with a comment about how I wanted to punch him in the face. Kevin Cease got involved immediately and things quickly escalated to insane levels.

I totally pussed out in the end because I'm sure Kyle's a nice guy in his own right and there was no need to keep attacking him in a war I clearly wasn't going to win.

For your entertainment, here's the entire argument, complete with his supporters jumping in to knock me down. I regret not fighting 'till the very end - instead, I kind of give in to them.

Why did you post such a large paragraph after he said like three words to you homie?

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

    Should he have responded character-for-character?

Hard to do when responding to someone with no character.

No, I was just wondering why he posted such a large paragraph to combat a minimal response.

Two pillars of modern comedy. Man, didn't your brother teach you anything at bootcamp?

I hear this said countless times at the events. This is obviously something that is the truth.
You don't have to read anything other than this. It's basically an admission that the Boot Camp is a complete waste of time.

Exactly. You can come to this boot camp, or walk up to any working comedian and ask him for advice... Either way, you're going to hear the same thing. Get onstage as much as you can.

This boot camp thing is like those Become a Real Man and Learn to Meet Women Seminars. Sorry but comedy is like sleeping with hot ladies. There's usually a 2 drink minimum and occasionally heckling.
What was the best concert you've been to?
