Re: The "not worth it's own thread" thread

My boss today asked me if I knew a way to get his friends "Geri and Steve" an autographed picture of Craig Ferguson. I don't know why he thought I'd know how to get one (he doesn't even know I have an interest in anything remotely comedy related).

All he said was "You know how to find things." So, enjoy the ridiculousness of my "career" or HOOK IT UP for Geri and Steve.

It seems that my local bar is having a Yacht Rock-themed Christmas Party:

    OTTOBAR HOLIDAY PARTY!
Upstairs & downstairs! 2-4-1 drinks all night!
Win free drinks, Ottobar t-shirts, & gift certificates!
    DOWNSTAIRS: YACHT ROCK XMAS!
DJ's spinnin' the smooth mellow sounds of The Doobie Brothers
Christopher Cross, Toto, Pablo Cruise and many more!
"YACHT ROCK" episodes 1-10 playing all night! Ages 18+

It seems I don't know what 'local' is to you.

    Sounds fun though.

This is a year old, but anyway:

    Shoddy reporting.

I was caught by surprise by a nice piece of comedy in last night's MMA TUF Finale matches. Dave Kaplan enters the ring to "Tenderness" by General Public. He was later caught and submitted by an armbar in the second round.

I don't know if this was posted anywhere else, but I was channel surfing and caught Steve Agee on Spike TV's video game awards. He was wearing a costume made of books and singing with Jack Black

Re: The "not worth it's own thread" thread

Would anyone mind if I started up a "AST Comedy Stupid Questions" thread? Those are always the best spots on message boards, because novices (and the occasionally clueless) can ask the burning questions, and everyone else can be smugly superior.

I know it's weird to ASK about whether it's OK to open a thread, but some message board "communities" are totally fucking weird about traditions/conventions/andsuch, so I'd rather not step on anyone's toes by being the DOUCHEBAG NOOB WHO OPENED A THREAD BEFORE HAVING 156 POSTS!!!! or whichever thing isn't cool for a noob to do here.

Agreed, but please try not to be a douchebag.

On a comedy forum? I'm turning the doucheyness to full power.

That was going to be witty, but instead it was 3:48 in the morning.

Pretty damn close to being worth its own thread

Tracy Morgan will star in and produce the comedy Freshman Roommates for Montecito and Paramount Pictures, reports Variety.

TJ Miller (Cloverfield) will also star in the film that is inspired by the proliferation of email scams purporting to be sent by a Nigerian prince looking for help in accessing his fortune.

Freshman Roommates asks the question what if one of the emails isn't a scam. The story kicks off when a young man answers one such email during a drunken stupor. Soon thereafter, the spoiled son of a deposed African dictator (Morgan) shows up at his door, looking to secure his inheritance.

The project reteams Morgan with his "30 Rock" executive producer David Miner, who is executive producing "Roommates" alongside his 3 Arts colleague Dave Becky.

Standup veterans John Mulaney and Nick Kroll wrote the screenplay, which they crafted as a starring vehicle for Morgan.

I believe a while back isoS posted that he had read the script for "Gary the Tennis Coach" and liked it. Well, it looks like the movie is going straight to DVD, except it's been retitled "Balls Out: The Gary Houseman Story" (Jesus).
A DVD screener of it has leaked ; the movie stars Seann William Scott and was directed by Danny Leiner, of "Dude, Where's My Car?" fame. A.D. Miles is also in it.
