Objectively, it was a solid episode because none of the sets fell apart.

To me this was the best episode of the season so far. I thought Taylor Swift was fun, and had a great energy, but conceptually I think the sketches this past week were far superior. I'm sorry, but I hated the Roomies sketch; so the absence of that alone makes it a better episode.
Nasim really kind of shone through in this episode as well, and that's interesting...was Jenny Slate in this week's episode at all? The Closet Organizer sketch and call-back sketch were really smart in my book, and therefore I liked them. So while Taylor Swift is a good solid second place for me, Hamm's show delivered the goods much more consistently.
Also: Moynihan's Snookie makes me laugh so hard...the orange paint makeup is awesome.
Totally, I don't know anything about this Buble guy, but man, he was a really good comedic actor, in my opinion.
And on another note, even though I saw that Sergio coming out of that women from a mile away, they still made me die laughing with the amount of "goo" on him. Well done.
I'm in the "Best Episode of the Season" camp here as well. I'd say Hamm's monologue was one of the best I've seen in a while. Also, I'd put The Curse, Hamm and Buble, Closet Organizer, and Barnes & Noble among the funniest things I've seen not just on SNL but anything on TV this season. Plus, I feel Hamm's commitment and performance ability elevated the other sketches that might not have been as funny if the host was staring at the cue cards.
January Jones could learn a lesson or several lessons from Jon Hamm.

Or from the back of his hand, more likely.
I admired the callback more than actually finding it funny.
Seth had a good night, although the Jersey Shore and Sotomayor bits were pretty bad.
Another pretty mediocre episode, but Hamm is just so darn watchable.
Zach hosting 3/6, finally a reason for ME to watch.
I really hope thats true. It could be the best ep since Conan O'brien hosted. Maybe they'll do a live version of between two ferns? Man I am way to excited about this, I need to go have some warm buttermilk.
Yeah I saw it on his twitter... first a great Jon Hamm episode and now this! After some really bad hosting choices... SNL is finally coming thru!
SNL should let Zach takeover the way they let Tom Green "takeover". Except his won't be a disaster.

well, if the Absolut commercials are any indication, Zach isn't going to do something he wouldn't be proud of unless... wait, does this thing pay a lot?

This might be the first time I watch an episode of Saturday Night Live live since I was 14.
Its so rare for a comedic actor to get famous enough to host SNL (for some reason fame is more important than being even slightly humorous for hosts) that didn't come up through SNL. So I'd have no idea what to expect, whereas usually you know exactly what to expect with just about every episode.
I'm predicting a piano will be involved in his monologue. If you think about it, most of the people who now know him from The Hangover still do not know about his live performance. I'm very excited for this, I hope the writers get his sensibility right.
Night gathers, and now my snark begins. It shall not end until it gets hacky. I shall take my wife(... please!), hold no lands, father no negative ratings. I shall wear no crowns and win no AST Top 20 Rankings. I shall live and die by my posts. I am the LOL in the darkness. I am the fire that burns against the trolls, the sneer that guards the realms of men from Kyle Cease's Comedy Boot Camp. I pledge my life and honor to the AST's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.
he is probably friends with a lot of the writers on that show - is that something that hosts usually can say? that should definitely affect the process

Whats the over/under on beard themed sketches? 2, 3?
Seriously, I think Mulaney will do a good job working with Zach's sense of humor and blending it with what the core SNL audience wants.
I hope my assumption that Zach wouldn't do something he didn't enjoy/wasn't proud of holds true.
