In that Ellroy clip Andy looks the same but Conan looks like Ted Koppel's bastard son.

JUSTICE (NBC, New!) - Conan O'Brien is back in business with NBC as the network has commissioned a pilot for "Justice," a potential drama from his Conaco production banner. John Eisendrath penned the hour, which "follows an ex-Supreme Court justice who quits the Court to start his own legal practice." Eisendrath then will executive produce alongside O'Brien and his Conaco partners Jeff Ross and David Kissinger. Universal Media Studios is the studio attached as a result of O'Brien's $33 million settlement, which included a provision that the company stick with the studio through the end of the current development cycle.

Edit:In addition to buying the pilot, NBC ordered another concept show, from O'Brien's company Conaco, a multicamera comedy dubbed "The Pink House."

Drama? I love it when intelligent comedy minds make drama. This should be good! Hopefully when it doesn't get picked up somebody leaks the pilot.

When Jay Leno wants to rescue his image, he goes on Opra.

When NBC wants to do the same thing, they get back in business with Conan.

    Who's the asshole there?

I blame the affiliates for this more than I do NBC. Not that NBC isn't retarded, mind you.
    I'm a MAN, dammit!

Re: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

according to Kevin Pollack via the Kevin Pollack Chat Show that someone posted in the Futurama thread, breaking Jay's contract would have been WAY more expensive than breaking Conan's. I havent read that rumor anywhere else, but Kevin Pollack "heard" that they would have owed Jay something like 150 Million if they cancelled his new show outright.

Don't know if true, just saying.

Re: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

    Yes, that is true.

From the New York Post :

The decision to let O'Brien walk apparently came down to who was cheaper to let go.

Leno has an ironclad, "brilliantly written" agreement that guarantees his production company a staggering $150 million if NBC Universal axes his flailing primetime show, an insider said.

That deal was news to O'Brien until Monday night, when Leno referred to it in his monologue.
So really, this decision was ultimately about money. As much as everyone wants to hate Jay Leno, this really isn't a personal thing between him and Conan. I still wish he had just retired though.

Maybe this will end up being a positive thing for Conan. Until this week, I didn't realize that FOX is actually the #1 rated network right now (I guess all because of "American Idol"). As bad as a lot of their programming is, they are very good at promoting their own shows and they should be able to put a lot of advertising push behind Conan. Plus, getting a jump on all the other shows at 11 may work to his advantage.

    Trying to stay positive!

A little transcription from the Oprah interview

Sorry if this article was already linked. Man, Jay is really playing to the demo he does well with. "Oh, I wasn't hurt by his jokes" and "I wanted to let it calm down before I talked." Because why would you actually reach out in the middle of the conflict and make sure Conan wasn't really hurt by all of this? Why would you as the elder statesman actually show class and tact by extending an olive branch, even privately?

    Sneaky man that Jay Leno.

You mean Mr. 'I have no manager, I have no agent...all I do is shake hands'

had a brilliantly written, ironclad contract w/ a $150 million penalty clause?

I realize it is cynical of me to point that out...but I am...

... that's why you can look forward to The Jay Leno Show at 11:35, followed by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno at 12:05.

    NBC this March!

I enjoy this because I imagine Brian McCann saying it.

Re: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

And speaking of Brian McCann, has anyone not seen this?

I say that because its pretty old apparently so I am assuming a lot of you have seen it. But I just found it and good lord I wish that would have been picked up. Or that I could somehow find the whole episode of it. Maybe now that Conan is on to new things, this will attempt to make a comeback somehow. That would be neat, anyways
