Thread: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

Re: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

Oh wow thanks, I was going to ask did anyone know this sketch. This was probably one of the first sketches I ever saw on Conan, I had memories as fond as they were vague.

Was it always andy blitz or did McCann do it a few times, because i could swear the first time I saw it (Summer 2003) it was McCann

I say that because its pretty old apparently so I am assuming a lot of you have seen it. But I just found it and good lord I wish that would have been picked up. Or that I could somehow find the whole episode of it. Maybe now that Conan is on to new things, this will attempt to make a comeback somehow. That would be neat, anyways
i saw it a couple years back on youtube, it got taken down quickly. it was pretty amazing, i wish i had downloaded it. he had dustin diamond read a "saved by the bell" script he wrote, diamond played screech and mccann played "zackslater". there was also a tray of brownies that mccann kept berating. at one point during a lull in the dustin diamond interview mccann says, "if you're uncomfortable, have a whore brownie!"

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who posted those youtube links. I vividly remember being incredibly excited to watch the "entire audience of kids" show. Wonderfully silly stuff. Staying up to watch Conan was one of the best things about the weekends/summers during elementary and high school. And gave me some much needed stress relief during many of my late night cram sessions in university. It sucked taping his last Tonight shows so soon after having taped his first two weeks.

But Conan will do great elsewhere, and i'll follow.

And to me, Leno is a bum. Always was, always will be.

Andy and I are going to put up a bunch of his clips soon. We went through loads of CDs and found some great bits. Soon!

    What a cowardly little shit:

Leno explained to Winfrey that when NBC came to discuss the low ratings and its decision to move his show out of the 10 p.m. time slot, he did ask if he could be released from his contract. NBC's response was that he was still a valuable asset.

He said that when NBC gave him the option of doing his show at 11:35 p.m., he asked if O'Brien would agree to it, and NBC executives assured Leno that he would.

Except the next thing Leno knew, O'Brien released a letter to the "people of Earth" refusing to move "The Tonight Show" back to 12:05, on the grounds that it would ruin the franchise.

"But, if you look at the way the ratings were ... the ratings destroyed the franchise," Leno said with a shrug.

Good thing for Jay that when he forced Johnny out of the Tonight Show that Johnny just disappeared from show business. Otherwise Johnny could've given a similar quote to Oprah about Jay's early ratings.

God what a shit-heel that guy is.

Well, and it's also just not true.

Even before this stuff came up, Conan was already doing better than Dave in the only way that counts.
    I'm a MAN, dammit!

Watching Colbert's take on Obama's speech right now, it's hitting me how crappy it is that we're not getting to see a State Of The Show Address this year -- and how incredibly awesome it would have been if they'd been able to do it LAST week.

The Oprah interview is up on youtube. Jay is just so fake, he should just come out and say that he fucking took Conan's job because he was in the position to take it , that he has the blue haired ladies eating out of his chin and fuck all the babies and their whining.

Instead he lays down so much bullshit:

"You have two hit shows, "The Tonight Show" number one, "Conan" number
one. You move them both to another situation, and what are the odds that both
would do extremely poorly? Now, if Conan's numbers had been a little bit higher,
it wouldn't even be an issue,
but in show business, there's always somebody
    waiting in the wings."

Eff that guy, "Who would've known"? Yeah, who would've known Jay would've never beaten a 5 million dollar show?, who would've known he would've fucked up Conan's lead-in. It's astounding!

Kimmel weighs in, you can tell he's a Stern follower just by seeing ability to use vicious honesty to get attention. I hope his rating increased after the whole debacle.

"You know, he used to be a comedian."

Leno's head makes Ted Kennedy look like Beetlejuice.

That's a hatchet aimed straight at Conan's head.

I watched a bit of that interview with Oprah, and Jay is still playing the victim and nice guy part. He also claims to not be a "big contract guy"...except for that $150 million one. What a piece of shit.

I know that just seemed like such a shitty thing to say. Conan went out with class and if anything Jay turn the Tonight Show into a bland non-offensive PR machine is what ruined the franchise. I wrote the Tonight show off until Conan was announced as the new host back in '04.

and yes when I say PR, I do mean Puerto Rican

Jay's pissing in the river and telling the guy downstream it's their fault their water smells.

The Oprah after interview is worth watching. She just doesn't understand why people feel the way they do about Leno and spends most of her time just shaking her head as people in the audience try to explain it to her in Oprah-speak.

It's one thing to be petty, classless & mean when you lose. I mean, when the chips are down...we all are not always at our best. That's just a part of being human.

But to 'win'...to get exactly what you want...at the expense of someone else...and still act like an asshole without any grace or humility?

It's not enough that he's getting the show back...he has to kick the other guy down in the mud and piss all over him?
