    >Jay Leno's last guest on "Tonight Show" will be the man who's taking over for him —Conan O'Brien.

i dunno why this makes me feel like crying. silly sentimentality. sad that it would be the last time... and happy coz conan's on tv again! :`-)

i'll look forward to this -- conan is always grateful and ever gracious about jay.

LOS ANGELES – Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam will be part of Conan O'Brien's first "Tonight Show."

Ferrell joined O'Brien in February for his final "Late Night" show in New York. Now the actor-comedian will help O'Brien kick off his tenure on "Tonight" in Los Angeles.

Pearl Jam will be the first band on O'Brien's show, playing songs from an upcoming studio album, NBC said Monday.

O'Brien takes over the late-night show on June 1, after Jay Leno wraps up his 17-year run as "Tonight" host on May 29. Leno is moving to a daily prime-time series for NBC in the fall.

This is great news for me! I expect this show to be insane.

I will do anything for anyone if they can take me as their guest to that first show. ANYTHING. The combination of Conan and Pearl Jam is making my head spin.

Re: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

Let's hear what the internet has to say about Conan!! This is gonna be great!!

    Comments from the website, tvsquad.com...

There is no way that Conan will be able to fill Jay's shoes. My husband and I have faithfully watched the Tonight show and I doubt if Conan can hold the #1 spot. His humor is too off the wall and has a limited appeal. Jay was able to fill Johnny Carson's shoes but Conan can't come close to Johnny or Jay. We will set our TIVO for 10:00 PM and move to Nightline at 11:30 PM. If Conan can't hold the #1 spot will NBC bring Jay back?
O Brien is just a wishy washy character enjoying his requisite 15 minutes of fame. And what's with the quiff? Ridiculous. If he lasts a year I will be surprised. The ratings will tumble because he just isn't funny. The word 'irritating' springs to mind.
Someone says he appeals to the college set...as if that is a testimonial!
Conan O'Brien is an idiot... this will be the end of The Tonight Show. Conan fill Leno's shoes... NOT A CHANCE! Thank goodness there are other shows!
The decision on Leno's replacement must have come from someone who does not understand good and true humor and seems to recognize less the sentiments of faithful The Tonight Show hosts followers.
HATE THAT HE CONSTANTLY INTERUPTS HIS GUESTS WITH NONSENSICAL JIBBER-JABBER, DEVOID OF WIT OR HUMOR. JAY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CLASS ACT.
I agree. I will switch to Nightline or Letterman. I CANNOT stomach Conan!
good bye to the Tonight Show... I will never watch it as long as Conan is on it. He makes me sick to my stomach to watch him. I have honestly tried to watch his crappy show, but just can't stomach it. He prances around on stage acting stupid and reminds me of a constipated red headed woodpecker!
Conan O'Brian is taking over The Tonight Show???? What a HUGE mistake for the show THAT is. Jay will have fun watching the ratings fall steadily into the mystic. This is a suicide trip for Conan. How "unfunny" can a guy be???

Meanwhile, over at the Pearl Jam message board, fans are complaining that appearing on Conan equates to Pearl Jam stabbing Letterman in the back.

The late night cold war has begun anew.

How do you nosedive from Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam to Ryan Seacrest and Chickenfoot in the span of just one week?

Just got home from the test taping today and let me tell everyone they are in for a treat. And not to blow any ones cover, the warm up comic is AMAZING.

The New York Times Magazine did a feature on Conan and the new show. It's not online. But if you have access to it, check it out. (I saw it blurbed on Slate.)

Conan can't be banging on all cylinders all of the time, it's unhealthy. With Seacrest and the Old Man Band he can just sleepwalk through his Friday and loosen up for the weekend.
    I'm in.

Seacrest isn't that bad a talk show guest. He doesn't take himself too seriously (remember his scenes in "Knocked Up"?), and is Mr. Media of California (with "Idol", his work on E!, and his daily radio show), so it makes sense to have him on in the first week, and shouldn't be that bad.

Glad Tom Hanks is on in the first week. My favourite Conan/Hanks moment actually ISN'T the snow drop, or even the fact the show got that Astronauts Storming Normandy painting made... It's definitely the "Frankenstein Wastes a Minute..." where Frankenstein('s monster) led us to the hallway, where we saw Tom Hanks. The first REAL thing to be excited about? Nope, there was a lightswitch there that captivated Frankenstein. And then Hanks gets all into the lightswitch, too! Great moment.

Also, I recall Paltrow being a huge fan of Conan in her previous appearances, so that should be a great first-week interview, too!

One of my favorite Tom Hanks moment on Conan has to be Celebrity secrets.

Unless the warm up comic is Salman Rushdie, why in the world have you chosen to keep the identity a secret?
