Thread: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

As much as I hate all this Hills, Spencer pratt bullshit. It was nice to Conan try to get some jokes out of the situation. Andy and Seth Green got some nice digs in. It gives me peace of mind to know that even when the gimmicky guests show up Conan will make it interesting.

The constant booing was fun as well.

Read an interview with Andy today (on TV Squad), and I had to post this particular question-and-answer (I agree with Andy completely):

There are also all of these stories that come up about how he (Jay Leno) said he'd take back the Tonight Show if they asked him to.

That was weird. That was a weird answer. Because nobody actually asked him if it was offered, the question was just sort of like, would you like to be back on? And he was the one who went on to say, "If they asked me, would I take it?" That's certainly not the classy answer to that question. The classy answer is, "Oh, well that's a silly question to ask because somebody already has that job." That's what you say. If you're classy.
    "If you're classy." Boom!

I bet Conan missed recording his farewell to Diane Sawyer because he was busy taping a podcast.

The episode with Snooki & The Situation was just all around stellar awkward.

Loved the gold sketch with Mr. Stack, who was constantly re-starting his walk-up to the camera!

Thanks, crimestick. That "Gold4Sex" bit was Andres DuBouchet's idea, and I had a great time doing it.

It was delightfully complicated, and I loved how the arrow humped one of the boxes in the graphic.

Someone pointed out to me this rumor regarding Conan's future at the Tonight Show. Now, I think it is a load of bullocks but with Comcast taking over everything lately, I wonder if there is any veracity to the claim at all or if anyone else had heard anything at all.

Citing an unnamed source "at NBC" by a guy named Rob Shuter (former public relations flack now turned 'editorial') on a blog named Pop Eater. I'm not sure any part of it could be seen as more legitimate than a madlib.

I'm assuming if Seinfeld had such ambitions at any point in the last decade they would have found a way to make it happen ASAP, not to mention pre-announcing the heck out of it months in advance just to get some hype. Of course NBC would want Seinfeld to do anything for them, I can't imagine a network that wouldn't, but I'm assuming the lack of news would mean the desire isn't mutual or the story is a work of someone's imagination.

That was pretty much my whole take on it as well, even if the recent Comcast merging opens up the possibility of changes in what the higher ups would want. NBC is on the losing end of the network battle and has been for a while (even though some of my favorite shows are on the channel) but I don't see any reason for them to replace Conan He's just too good. Just thought I should mention it. Hell, if they want to replace someone they should pull Jay and put Seinfeld in. Makes far more sense in my book.

Christ Jerry Seinfield interviewing someone would be him saying "What's the deallll" and "who arrrre these people" to every guest every night.

Jay and Jerry are like best buddies so it would seem to fit that Jerry will outfox Conan like Jay did. Come to think of it Jay's probably behind this rumour

Has anyone heard anything about the ratings lately? I found the article in the link below, and to my untrained eyes, it seems like it's good news for Conan's chances of staying...which I pray a prayer to Jesus for every night!

I missed the Carl Reiner episode sadly (think it may be on my DVR still though) so I didn't know he did that...What a class guy he is. Have you read his autobiography? Awesome read. And I agree that Andy absolutely BELONGS on the couch, and had noticed him up there but since I didn't know the whole Reiner deal I thought it was just something they figured out on their own.

Re: Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien

The few episodes I caught leading up to the holiday break featured a little more Andy/Conan interaction than I remember seeing in the past. Their chemistry is so great and I think it's something that appeals instantly to the casual viewer. Andy should never have been in a diminished (on screen) role.
