It's really irritating. I just hope Conan has/gets a show still. Somewhere, and at this point I kind of hope it's not on NBC. Somewhere that will appreciate him or maybe starts his own Network. Then I hope NBC tanks and sells out to The CoCo Network, where he will only retain SNL, 30 Rock, The Office and Parks and Rec.
(yes I realize starting his own network is not realistic).

It's bad enough you gave that unfunny jackass a show at 10:30, then when that tanks you tell the world "Hey, we're complete idiots, so we're just gonna go ahead and completely undo the mistake we think we've made and hope no one notices what colossal failures we are. Oh yeah, and that Irish guy we let host The Tonight Show, one of the longest running institutions in TV history who was doing a fine job? I'm in the denial stage. Until Conan says its true then it aint. I admit I don't watch much late night so the content wont be missed either way but if those (something ungentleman like) executives at NBC think they're gonna take money out of Pardo's pocket then I am extremely upset! Boo and Hiss!

So, how bout Leno from 9:04 to 9:17, and then for eleven minutes during Conan's show, and Carson Daly moves to 5:40 am in Alaska only?
If you guys look at NBC's track record since Seinfeld left the air, it's not so good. Again, I work for an affiliate and we're constantly stunned with the shit they try to put into the pre-news slot. It affects our bottom line in a major way. They've trotted out shit like Kings or whatever it was called.... that time travel cop show... the basically failed season after half season with everything and decided "fuck it" and put Leno in.
I wish you could have sat in the meetings I sat in... where basically everyone thought Leno 5 nights a week in prime was a terrible idea... except NBC brass. Our station GM basically said "you've got to be fucking kidding me".
Every affiliate was terrified by it, and they kept selling it to us as "DVR proof"...... so much for that.

On tonight's monologue sent to reporters in advance of airing, Jay Leno sounds angry and upset, even going so far as saying he has "trust" issues with NBC right now. Which indicates that Leno and his reps are fighting NBC's attempts to cancel The Jay Leno Show at 10 PM primetime Monday through Friday which would violate his contract in which the network gave him a 2-year iron-clad commitment. Now NBC's waffling today starts to make sense as Jay and Conan and their reps fight what can only be called a turf war with the net
Jay Leno is the Brett Favre of NBC. The only reason all of this started was because he was the one who RETIRED. When you go through the drama of making up your mind, make that decision official asshole.
Like Favre though, Leno isn't criticized enough for acting like an egomaniacal prick because his carefully manufactured persona is so nice!

(To complete the analogy, Conan is like Aaron Rodgers in that they are both cool as hell and have kept their mouths shut when they could really add fuel to the fire.)
