Seems like you could lose your job if they caught you eating brie.

    Donut Man in Glendora, CA.
Open 24 hours, best time to go is late at night, around 11p, when they're frying up the donuts.

I also got a speeding ticket on the way over there last night, making those two donuts, the most expensive food adventure I've ever taken.

Oooo Thank you SO much! I think I am going to get some tomorrow, pending weather. Damn traffic makes food adventures less adventuresome.

On Saturday night I went with some friends to the House of Prime Rib here in San Francisco. While I love trying new places, I think I've eaten here about five times in two years. If you're ever in the Bay Area on a visit, it's totally worth dropping by. Had a few Rob Roys and somehow managed to fit the "extra helping" into my fat face.

They bring a lot of the cocktails in the shakers, which is fantastic. Not to mention the food. The meal ensured I was asleep before Galifianakas on SNL.

I've been going to Tom Colicchio's Craftbar a lot recently, it's a ten block walk from my apartment and it's really good, and on Saturday I discovered their Confit Chicken Wings with Gorgonzola and Sriracha. My in-laws were in town yesterday so I figured, hey, two days in a row, why not?

The wings are slow-cooked, deboned, then fried crisp. There isn't a hint of that floppy, rubbery fatty skin. They're topped with sweet pickled celery and red onion, gorgonzola and a sriracha aioli on the side. NEXT time I get them, I'll probably ask for a spicier sauce. Or just an extra side of sriracha.

Just made reservations at Chez Panisse for next month. I got a gift certificate at my office holiday party. Last time we went there with a gift certificate of $150, two of us still ended up shelling out an additional $100. It was totally worth it.

Does his uncle own it or something? I know that when you eat there, it's family.

You should also start a petty argument with the bus boy about something that happened 20 years ago.

If there's one thing that Anthony Bourdain is dead wrong about, it's his distaste for Alice Waters. Chez Panisse is fantastic.

    Enjoy! (not difficult)

Somewhere Bob Odenkirk is masturbating in a closet waiting for this Coconut Cream Pie to cool.

Ahh, to be wealthy. For me, a big night out is the drive-up window at Mickey D's. Although on special nights I make reservations for the dining room. I keep hoping they'll offer "kitchen seating" soon. I like to watch the frozen fries hit the grease vat. I also enjoy "Le Menu du Franc" (English translation: "The Dollar Menu"). Going there saves time too, no waiting around for the waiter to bring that time-consuming menu. When you ask for it, they just turn around and point. (Yes, I know this wasn't funny. I'm just trying to point out my state of parsimony compared to others.)

I thought she just pissed him off personally but he respected her contributions to cooking in general.

And to MJEH if you can't cook your own decent cheap food, I pity you. For the price of 3 people on the McDonald's dollar menu I can make something deeeeelicious and not shitty for my health.

Seriously, most of the classic Bistro/Brasserie/Country cooking is done with cheap ingredients made with basic techniques and tools.

Although I rarely eat it, if someone's craving McDonald's, you can't make that kind of crap at home. I had my bi-annual Fish Filet the other day and it was fantastic. Ate it in the car so somehow it doesn't count...?

Today I had pancakes for lunch from the Buttermilk Truck. The left are their special, Ube pancakes with a coconut marscapone something or other.

The right are their red velvet chocolate pancakes. I've had them a handful of times and I still say 'goddamn' each time I eat them.
    They're that delicious.
