I just picked up Gears 2, and am home sick. I'll be playing all day and into the night if anyone else has it.
Anyone still play Smash Bros. Brawl?
I've recently discovered my room mate has lived a secret life of pro gaming, and is actually sponsored and ranked high with Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments. It's weird because for a long time he'd just disappear for several days without telling anyone, and I guess he was embarrassed about his secret life of being a pro gamer.
Well one night he got super drunk and I started talking about Smash Bros. and then it was revealed, so now I'm hoping to enter 2 v 2 tournaments with him and see how that goes.

call me weak, but i get chills every time the mirror's edge commercial comes on.
The title sequence in the demo is pretty breathtaking
"(inaudible) I've seen, basically, all of those at this point."
(laughter)
"Yes, but have you ever seen Threen Wolf?"

Uhh.... I beat Gears 2 today. It's a pretty epic game. It has a few sequences that I really, really could have done without. Why is it the new trend in shooters to randomly throw in driving levels or rail levels? I understand the idea of freshening it up, but when you put a nearly impossible one at the end of the game that took me at least 30 tries to beat, I start hating your game.
The open ending is interesting, and the third in the series should be insane if they do what I think they're going to do. I'm assuming they are close on the engine as far as rendering gigantic groups of enemies.
Hey Chad, if you ever run out of videogames you can always play Cory In The House for the Nintendo DS.

I never played Gears but this kinda makes me want to:

Gametop has a trade-in promotion where all games get 40% extra credit when being traded towards Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 is the shit. And now I am going to Los Angeles for a week and leaving it at home. Tragedy.

For all two of you PS3 owners, Resistance 2 is a helluva lotta fun. I loved the original and this one is just as good with more. The bosses are sweet (especially the huge one in Chicago you see in the trailer), the visuals are superb (seeing San Fran being decimated by huge war ships at sundown was breathtaking), and the enemies have gotten more varied and interesting. I especially love the non-stop assualt of wave after wave of skinny unarmed crazy screaming chimera. Always tense and fun.
Heck yeah. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I can't wait to play it with four other humans instead of bots.
I also downloaded the Mirror's Edge demo last night. Not as fluid as I'd hoped, but still enjoyable. It's probably be easier if it wasn't locked in a first person view.
and that's my problem with that game. Why did they have to make it first person? Don't you want to see your character pull off those moves? I played a game E3 a couple of years ago that wasn't in first person and it looked so cool. Besides, every since Turok, I've always hated jumping in first person.
Of course, I haven't played the game so I'm judging it unjustly. So sue me.

That's the "thing" with Mirror's Edge. If they were going to make a 3D platformer in 3rd person, it could be any one of a bunch of games. But to put you in her eyes makes the game different and seperates it from other games as being somewhat unique. I've played the demo and while I probably won't buy it, I have to say it is really interesting and it actually makes you "feel" like your running around rooftops, sliding under vents, and leaping to the nearest crane. What makes it really feel like you're in the person's shoes, is how intuitive the controls are, they make the movements seem natural.
It gets points for graphics (city design), opening anime, natural feeling controls, and its unique gameplay.
Resistance 2 is a bit short but still sweet to play. I have yet to beat one co-op level though, those things are pretty difficult.
