He was the starting PG for the 2005–06 NBA champions. Pete Maravich played only 10 championshipless years in the league and died at the age of 40.

Yeah, what is wrong with Minnesota? I get that it might not be appealing to everyone but it is not a bad city. I would rather be there then Houston, Sacramento, or Oklahoma City.

Man, if Rubio got to play in New York, he could totally be unraveling a Mummy right now.

    Most recent post from Rubio's facebook;

"Even gutter hags trump pretty boys." - BabyCakes

    Re: Sporots

The Wolves are crazy to not trade Rubio right now, when his stock is sky-high -- I heard they turned down HOU's offer of Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier. That's a ready-to-go PG and a great defensive player! What the eff? Even if Rubio turns out to be an All-Star, it won't be for another few years, whereas Brooks can help you win now. And even if they manage to sign him, the Wolves will lose Rubio to free agency right when he's getting good. Make the deal, dudes!

I am told that Minneapolis has a lot of cool stuff. It also snows there.

Sincere question: where do you get this opinion? I'm asking because its my understanding that he stands to lose a ton of money if he goes back to Spain, and he is basically trying to leverage a trade to a bigger market. But, if Minnesota plays hardball with him, he'll eventually play for Minnesota.

That said, I'm not sure what they're going to do with Flynn if they keep Rubio.

Also, Minnesota would absolutely not be a bad place to play. Minneapolis has a strangely negative reputation -- there would be WAY worse places to end up (Memphis, Oklahoma City, Charlotte, Orlando, Sacramento spring to mind). I really, really like Minneapolis.

Though I don't think they have any flamenco festival to speak of ...

Yeah, it's such a weird thing. Do you ever hear football players complain about having to play in Green Bay in the December? And they actually play their games in the elements.

Seemingly, this is the short list of cities that NBA players want to play in:

    Boston
    New York
    Phoenix
Los Angeles (but only for the Lakers)
    Miami
San Antonio (as long as Duncan is there)
Orlando (because at least it's Florida)
    Chicago

The rest of the country is shit.

Jennings is trying to make the best of Milwaukee though when he's talking to rapper Joe Budden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT3_fxWyplA if you haven't seen it yet).

You expect some mop-topped Corsican teen to know the difference between Minneapolis and Memphis, or Milwaukee, or Sacramento? I'm sure a fair number of Americans don't.

    Re: Sporots

The difference is that Memphis, Milwaukee and Sacramento all have head coaches right now.

The Bucks inexplicably have not offered a contract to restricted free agent PF Charlie Villanueva (@CV31). He's 6'11", 24 yo and averaged 16 points/game last year. Craziness.

C'mon Danny Ferry, make it happen! Shaq and CV31 in the front court together...they could tweet each other during halftime.

Well, one would hope that with tons of money and a career on the line, he might do that research. At least google it.

And I would take the situation in Minnesota over Memphis, Milwaukee, or Sacramento. Jefferson is a low-post scoring machine. If they can get some defensive help down low, they can compete for a playoff spot soon. Or, I should say, they could win 40 games sooner than later.

    Re: Sporots

Wolves just need to hold a private screening of Purple Rain for Rubio.

That always makes me want to move to Minneapolis.
Night gathers, and now my snark begins. It shall not end until it gets hacky. I shall take my wife(... please!), hold no lands, father no negative ratings. I shall wear no crowns and win no AST Top 20 Rankings. I shall live and die by my posts. I am the LOL in the darkness. I pledge my life and honor to the AST's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

Hmmm, you know if you re-arrange the letters in "THANK YOU" you would only need an "E" a "W" and an "R" to spell out "New York." Crazy.

What were you guys talking about again?

I hope Ben Gordon does for the Pistons what Ben Wallace did for the Bulls

Thanks to @Lakers on Twitter, I received the very important news that the team did NOT terminate the contracts of Josh Powell and DJ Mbenga. Whew! Well, now we can enjoy our summer... Oh wait, just one more thing:
