Not really. It's kind of like going up to an alcoholic while they're throwing up in the toilet saying, "I'll never drink again", and asking, "Does this mean I can be a drunk now?".
No one's really looking for the position to be filled, and chances are, the alcoholic will be back on the sauce tomorrow...

An excellent guess, but Berliner's correct. Actually it was aimed at several people, one of whom in a more positive way, if that makes sense, and others who didn't necessarily post their comments on the same day I posted mine (or didn't post it, I guess).
Anyway it's really more of a general comment and everyone on AST should take it to heart. Which reminds me, didn't there used to be a "guide for new posters" on one of the old forums? Should I put that in the site suggestions thread, or am I already on thin ice for "AST-approved?"
