It was mentioned in the Rifftrax thread, because they did a rifftrax of the movie which is hilarious.

Wow, thanks I'm getting that. The Room was for me one of the best side-splitting memories of '09. And the best thing about it is that as long as Wiseau is alive everything he says and does is going to be an extension of that movie. Some of the best lines of The Room are in interviews and comments he has made.

I love this movie. I actually cut a little tribute to it last summer, which has been somewhat successful (whatever that means) on YouTube.

Mod edit: Just put everything after the equal sign in the YouTube tags.

He is at a lot of the screenings. One night he came up to do the intro, as he often does, and did a few lines from The Bard. So um your wish is my command:

Why would they need to CGI someone throwing a camera into water? That's just wasting money.

Matt Braunger and I went last year and it was a blast. If you go, go super early - we got there around 10.30 and there were about 50 people in front of us. The line wrapped all the way around and then extended to the upper level. They screened it in all five houses and Tommy made an appearance. Do NOT watch it on DVD if you haven't seen it yet.

Fact: The Room had a 6 million dollar budget.

    There's no joke there.

    Classic...

I will go against the grain here and suggest you don't see it in the theater the first time around. See it with a bunch of like-minded people for sure, not alone.
The theater experience is kind of a let down though... too much scripted Rocky-Horror type stuff... gets in the way of the actual movie and getting to say the things you actually think... calls out too much.

Crowning achievement was getting to do a promo-video for our improv theater that went in front of the room when Wiseau showed it here in Austin:

also... Me and Tommy (who is the real-deal)

I agree with this. While I've never seen the movie in a theatre (anybody know of Chicago screenings?), but I would suggest that watching it with a few friends and a full bong in your home makes for quite an enjoyable evening as well.
Night gathers, and now my snark begins. It shall not end until it gets hacky. I shall take my wife(... please!), hold no lands, father no negative ratings. I shall wear no crowns and win no AST Top 20 Rankings. I shall live and die by my posts. I am the LOL in the darkness. I am the fire that burns against the trolls, the sneer that guards the realms of men from Kyle Cease's Comedy Boot Camp. I pledge my life and honor to the AST's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

it's on Patton's 'My Weakness is Strong' DVD along with a bunch of other great stuff.

    Re: Tommy Wiseau's The Room

I love Patton, but his Wiseau accent is weak.

It does dovetail with our theory on Tommy's background, though; that he is the son of an Eastern European mobster who has sent him off to the US to keep him out of everyone's hair, and supplied him with enough money and contacts to keep him busy making a film no one was supposed to ever see.

My guess on Wiseau's heritage is Romanian. Because he doesn't sound Slavic at all, yet he doesn't have the ring of any Romance language I'm familiar with, making Romanian the most likely option to me. I'd love to have an expert analyze his speech, though.

But who keeps his hair out of everyone else?

    Re: Tommy Wiseau's The Room

hands down the most fun I've had at a movie theatre... ever.

    I even took some pictures...

Sold out show... all 5 screens. Thanks to Sparkiepop for recommending we get there early. At 1030p, there were a good 100 people in front of us.

There were people dressed like clowns, I'm not sure why though.

"there's some good lighter action in the audience tonight" - the guy behind me, yelling out mstk worthy commentary throughout the movie.

"It's the 7 minute sex scene! If you need to take a shit, do so now!"
A good half of the audience leaves.

Check the guy at the snack counter with the Wiseau wig! I don't know why the clowns were there... Wiseau Juggalos?

Nice pics, what camera do you have?
