Del Close Marathon! Aug 14/15/16th!

Just in case you don't all know, the Del Close Marathon is happening THIS weekend!! It's 72+ hours of non-stop comedy at UCB and a couple of other venues! One of my favorite weekends of the year!!!

I recommend everything happening at the Kate Murphy theater, Scheer-Mcbrayer, Facebook, Satellites. And there is a ton of other stuff, but these are my favorites from the last two years, that I can remember...

Bring snacks, booze, whip-its, comfortable clothes and I'll see you there! Whoo!

If you combine all the venues, it's more like 140 hours. Whatever... it's still a lotta improv!

I'm doing daily preview pieces on my blog featuring interviews with a variety of DCM-related people with varying perspectives. Started with Anthony King yesterday (he gave great answers to some questions everyone seems to have re: the booking of DCM), and will cap it off with one that will make improv nerds jizz their cargo shorts a little (no, it's not Del... that would be impressive though).

Can't begin to guess who will take his place, but I'm sure it will be someone good. There's fairly large pool of veteran UCBers who I'm happy to watch under any circumstances... just that Rob was one of my favourites. I'm surprised they haven't removed him from the schedule yet. I'd really hate to think that they wouldn't tell us period, but if Rob hadn't said anything himself, when were we going to find out?

Another change-according-to-Twitter this afternoon was that Mailer Daemon is going into the 3:30 Sunday slot at UCBT, taking the place of another Chicago group whose name escapes me. It's currently blank on the sched now, though... but it means they are indeed making updates.

I'm bummed about Rob, but happy for him. If he can't make it because he is filming, that just means he is working on a project that the masses will get to see eventually, which is great for him!!

I participated in "myspace" aka the new "facebook," back in 07. Rob chocked me on stage. I came a little. Highlight of the DCM.

I'll be there, too. 4th straight year and what I look forward to most all summer. Gonna try to get on line around 3:00 and hopefully end up sitting front row again. Bad enough Riggle bailed on the weekend, but Ed Helms seems to have as well. Will try to find out if he's showing up tomorrow (this is what happened last year), but I'm not getting my hopes up at this point. Amazes me that they would still advertise people appearing who are definitely not going to be here.
