I've seen a few of these lists go by on this thread. And hey, I'm not trying to one-up anybody, but I've been compiling one for a while now. Figure I'd toss it up here, since it seems to be pretty comprehensive.
Also, I listed a Thursday show in Waukegan, IL. This is the show that I host (I'm a suburbanite), and it's a really solid show if you feel like taking a trip on the Metra.
If I've made any mistakes on the list here or if I'm missing anything, let me know. I've only hit about six or seven of these rooms myself, so I might be talking out of my ass on some of these.

2I've been once, and the room was so empty, and the list was so sparse, that the show wasn't even continuous; when someone showed up, they'd put them onstage. Otherwise, folks watched the game. But this may not be the case every week.

Ranali's Up-North on Tuesday is primarily music
.[EDIT: Ranalli's closed half of its store in an effort to cut costs and the music open mic is over. There is a comic book store next door to Ranalli's called the Comic Vault that occasionally has stand up comedy. I don't know who you'd need to talk to.]
The Edge on Wed is a good room try and get on early.

I don't know how Whiskey Road got in there. That place has been renamed Chinaski's. I hear they still do open mic there, but I haven't checked firsthand.
The Chinaski's open mic died last September (see earlier in this thread).
McFadden's is dead.
