Damn, these open mic shows need to quit dying.
Alright, edited again. I'm sure I'm going to be constantly editing that list.
To this point, when I head down to the city to do shows, I generally pick them at random with the exception of Schuba's and Innjoy, which are my favorites thus far. So in an effort to hit some of the best rooms in the city, I pose the following query: what room would you folks call a don't-miss show?
Is the U.S. Beer Co. still doing shows on Thursdays? Do you have to be 21+?

For those willing to venture out of the city, there's a great Open Mic at the Ashbary Coffee House in Willow Springs that precedes a 3-Hour Improv show. 8695 S Archer Ave. Starts at 9PM. I help run it, and the showcase we have every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, so email me at chrisjames0120@mac.com and I can give you more details.
Also, the Comedy Shrine in Naperville has Open Mics every Monday starting at 8PM.

One of my best friends in comedy Derek Smith recently moved from Oklahoma to Chicago, and has apparently been hitting the open mics there pretty hard. I know he's at Schuba's tonight.
So keep an eye out for a big guy named Derek Smith. He's hilarious, I swear.
let's be honest dan. no one did great at schubas last night*.
*to be fair i missed the whole show.
All I heard about this Monday is how terrible Schuba's was on Sunday.
