Starting March 25th, SFStandup.com, Chad Lehrman and Jeff Cleary are bringing Comedy Speakeasy to the world famous Purple Onion.

This weekly showcase is going to be great (Great!). Here is the opening show lineup;

It is important that this show succeed.

No bullshit, if this show gets good crowds, it could become THE inexpensive alternative to a night at the Punchline or Cobbs. In other words, something that this city sorely needs.

Currently, SF comedy is either open mic, super small rooms, or the big time clubs. It really needs a medium sized space that can show off the best locals, and still accommodate out of town acts that want to do a drop in before making their money over the weekend.

Chad and Jeff are committed to making this the best weekly show in Northern California, so don't let them down by sitting home and playing Resident Evil 6 or whatever.

Agreed, Scammy. The Purple Onion is a fantastic spot to see a comedy show and we could really use a venue specializing in local comics - there are a ton of great people coming up in the Bay Area right now.

Speaking of, the headliner this week is Kris Tinkle - he's hilarious, he's one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet and even though I've seen him a ton I always look forward to seeing what he comes up with, each and every set. THIS WEDNESDAY!

This was a great show and a solid crowd for the inaugural Comedy Speakeasy at the Purple Onion. Good times.

Although, we were all like, "where's Scammy? Where could he be? I hope he's not hurt or anything."

This is a fun lineup tonight...and I think in a couple of years Janine is going to be blowing up like crazy. Comedy nerds, go see her now and get in on the uber-coolness. You can say you saw her way back in 2009 and you KNEW she was going to be one of the biggest comics ever.
