If there's anything I learned from Dave Foley this afternoon, it's that he's the harbinger of all things that are bad in this world.

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

I've been reading this board for a long time. I had to finally register because the shows I've seen tonight have been fantastic.

I saw Matt Belknap and Jimmy Pardo at the Starbucks near the Eureka Theater. I was too chicken to say hello. I was the curly haired gal in the purple plaid shirt that made a weird "OOOO!" face at you as you were leaving. Is there anything you can say in those situations without sounding like a creep? (Hint: No, but making faces at the person is worse.)

As you saw from the post above, Dave Foley was the guest on NNF. He said stuff about Phil Hartman that is worth the price of the NNF subscription alone.

The ILM and CDR podcasts were fantastic. They both have the same guests and were really great, but the appearance of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber made me bust some sort of internal organ from laughing.

I am now hanging out at home, waiting for the 10:30 Match Game show because I didn't get 8PM tickets. If it's anything like the rest, I might die from the humor. I will be the gal in the yellow plaid shirt drinking a bourbon and coke if anyone wants to say hello.

Oh, and if anyone else is going to see The Red Wine Boys, I will be there, too.

Liezl, I agree. Reggie Watts was awesome at ILM/CDR. I wish that I had bought tickets to his show tonight. His giggle was infectious.

My photos from the weekend will eventually be found here:

For the time being there's a handful of NNF photos. CDR And ILM will be up when I get back from Game Show Explosion tonight.

Swirlybear, I'm the girl in the orange scarf...

and one more before I leave:

Pardo is sad because no one will take his jacket off stage....

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

Dammit! I didn't see this post. I must have somehow known because I did see a gal with an orange scarf and both times thought Gosh that's a nice scarf. Now, I feel extra silly for not saying something. If you saw a brown curly haired chick in a black coat staring at you, that was me. Sorry!

Can I just say that there is no other word to describe Paul F Tompkins except "delightful"? Match Game was the first time I wanted to hang out with panel of drunk comedians after a show.

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

I had a great time, too. I didn't see a girl with an orange scarf, but did anyone else notice how much the waitress that brought the panel their drinks looked like tina fey? It's uncanny.

But yea, I love to watch a group of hilarious people just go off the cuff and have fun.

I had black sweater and I was sitting in the back toward the left. I didn't see anyone taking pictures, so I missed you, Liezl.

By the way: I gave the box office my extra match game ticket and they didn't give me refund, but they gave me 2 cobb's comedy club passes.

I opted to head over to the Punchline last night, because I'd never seen Reggie Watts perform before. He's awesome, and the crowd LOVED him. If you ever get a chance to see the dude perform, do it. He's really great.

Mary Van Note and Jamie Kilstein were also a lot of fun.

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

Every show so far has been hilarious. Yesterday, we went to Never Not Funny, ILM/CDRR, and both Game Show Explosions. Jimmy tore his meniscus during the 8PM show and came out, limping and likely in great pain, and still performed hilariously for the 10:30 show. Because he's a professional!

I saw Robin Williams and Rick Overton sneaking out from backstage after the first Match Game.

I agree with SwirlyBear's assessment of the hilarity of Paul F Tompkins' Andrew Lloyd Webber. I look forward to re-listening to it when the podcast comes out, as I'm sure I missed some things over the laughter.

I haven't met up with any ASTers that I haven't previously met, yet, but if I do, rest assured you will be seeing portroids of them on here in the next few days. Fair warning.

Today we're going to Running Your Trap and The Benson Interruption. Come say hi.

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

Oh man, I don't know if I've ever seen an audience (or a panel of comedians) laugh harder than the crowd at the Punchline when PFT was doing Andrew Lloyd Weber. WOW. And that includes Paul himself. I can't count how many times he had to pull the mic away from his mouth so it wouldn't catch him cracking himself up. Hee!

Saw both game shows, too. So much fun! The second show was decidedly drunker. Good times. I hope Jimmy's knee is ok. I spent a little too much time worrying about him during the second show.

RYT and the Benson Interruption tonight!

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

Here are a couple from the yesterday.

I Love Movies with Scott Aukerman, Michael Ian Black and Dana Gould.

CDR Radio with Michael Ian Black, Doug Benson, and Paul F. Tompkins as Andrew Lloyd Webber, or Andrew Lloyd W. Not pictured, Reggie Watts off to the right who provided music. Michael Ian black, not knowing he was supposed to be in the cdr radio, had put on his jacket and was rearing to leave when his name was called to the stage.

You can thank mr. doug benson for getting me in and capturing these shots from Game Show Explosion/Match Game.

Paul F. Tompkins in his bottle cap monocle. in response to something casino employees wear that would make visitors uncomfortable.

Other responses were a flacid dildo (which aimee mann illustrated) and shirts with contestant's mom's vagina on it.

PFT does not approve of their answers.

A very drunk doug is overly excited about being picked for the final round.

    Re: General Sketchfest Thread

Liezl, your photos are awesome, as always.

Oh man, I totally got to live out my comedy nerd dreams last night as a contestant on RYT. Even though I lost by - I think this is right - several million points, I had a total blast. I have never done anything like that before, but Jimmy was gentle and it was a very fun time. (Matt's Barry White-influenced score-announcing was also a highlight.)

The Benson Interruption was great, too (even though the Eureka made everyone from the first show exit the theater and go to the end of a huuuuuge line that had formed because RYT ran long). Doug has such goodwill from every crowd I've ever seen him perform in front of, and this Interruption was no different. It was hilarious to see him and old friend Arj Barker poke at each other onstage. And on our way out I got into an accidental conversation with Janet Varney, who was like the world's biggest sweetheart. Mr. Scott Aukerman even joined us for a minute or two so I got some more practice actually speaking with comedy people who I love and not being a dumbass. What a fun night!

This whole weekend at Sketchfest was incredible. I told Janet this last night, but thanks to everyone involved for making it the amazing time it is every year. Can't wait for next weekend!

Here are the portroids I took during the festival. What an amazing time! I really wish I could go the remaining two weekends. Hope everyone posts up details.
