Local comedy competition also begins in February on Wednesday nights.

I perform on February 11th and 25th. If I had to ask you to be there for just one, I would ask for the 25th. That's when you can vote for me. Or against me, if you dislike me. But why would you?

Update: Great bill.

Opener: Jokey-jokey-joke. Segue. Repeat. But he had a pretty good voice and will get better with experience.

Senor Fairbanks: We spoke before the show, and he said he was being persuaded to change his stream-of-consciousness style to more joke-telling to facilitate a live recording, which didn't suit his style. Make no mistake: he killed the first half of his set, but sort of stumbled through the second half of his set after initiating some crowd work and doing a standalone physical bit. So, first half: He gets an A, second half a C+. Plus, he had a cold so he wasn't feeling the greatest. Still a hugely original talent, and worth seeing anytime he's playing. This cat is going places.

Pardo: I hadn't seen Jimmy before. Some of you are aware that I'm not a big fan of crowd work, as I think it alienates the crowd outside of the first 3 rows. I booked and watched 5 nights of comedy for years, so, while I'm not a comedian myself, I consider myself a student of comedy. I expected kind of a Rickles-meets-Slayton act, which is some of what I got, but there was a lot more self-awareness (a bit of Carson) mixed in. Not that I need to say this, but the guy is a quick and agile thinker. When it comes to crowd work, Pardo is the benchmark. Also a really nice guy off the stage.

A great show. Go see this tonight if you can get out of the house.

I am going to try my hardest to see Jimmy this weekend in Sunnyvale. I love his "stand-up" and also am a diehard NNF fan, but the dumbass BF does not share my love. A direct quote:
