Hey all! Just curious - what software do you use for writing comedy? I'm using a Mac. I've just been using MS Word, but obviously there's better ways.
Any suggestions?
Thanks everybody!![]()

this is the strangest thread yet.

I use a $1.75 Mead notebook and a blue clicky pen.
It must be blue and clicky.
I'm a comic. My website is mark-agee.com
Uhh, text edit. Or I save a lot of drafts in Gmail.
Why would you pay for a program to use for writing? It's not going to help you write better. Screenwriting software is the only thing I can see anyone paying for, simply to save time on formatting.
I'm still fairly new/bad at writing jokes, but I consider myself a fairly "green" joke writer. I text my jokes/ideas to my email instead of writing them down and killing all those trees.
What are you writing? Stand-up? Sketches? Half-hour? Feature? Final Draft is nice for anything requiring screenplay format, otherwise just use the quickest/simplest/cheapest option at your disposal.
I use Funny Plus. Highly recommend it.
why does this thread feel like it could be the "what is dino up to?" introduction to aspecialthing that orny adams has been waiting for?

Instead of writing, I spend most of my time playing Comedy Genius on my XBox. (I still can't beat the Tracey Ullman level...)
Use whatever works best for you and that you can have some sort of access to at all times. I keep some sort of notebook on me at all times. It's almost always a Moleskine, but that's just because I'm a pretentious fartbag who likes to write in things that look like I'm doing something more important than writing notes about ways to say poo-poo and pee-pee to strangers.
Buying software to write comedy is kind of like taking classes to write comedy. It may seem like it helps, but it probably doesn't matter at all. Just keep writing and performing.
I read (from their site) Milton Berle spent $147.99 for "Thought Office Comic Genius" back in the day (C64 version), so I figured if it worked for him...
