Chris Fairbanks' "Fairbanks!" now available on iTunes

You may know comedian Chris Fairbanks from his appearances on "Last Comic Standing" or "Reality Bites Back", or from appearing on podcasts like "Never Not Funny" and "Comedy and Everything Else". His first CD, "Fairbanks!", from Rooftop Comedy Records, is now available through the Itunes store.
Continuing in their tradition of poorly promoting their own material, the CD is not mentioned on Rooftop's site, and even finding a picture of the album's cover art on the Internet proved difficult. (The picture accompanying this story is close, but not quite the cover art). You can keep track of what Chris is up to by going to his site, chrisfairbanks.net, however.

Might be worth it to you to wait for the physical copy, since the cover art and packaging is amazing.

Christ's balls, Fairbanks is the best. He's so fun to do shows with because audiences love him, but he's also from such a different planet from every other comedian that the comedians all stop talking and watch him, falling in love with him again for the first time. One time he took the mic out of my hand when I was giving him too adulatory an intro while hosting and just started his set and told me to shut up. What a funny asshole.

I just had a day full of Chris Fairbanks. I listened to him on Jordan Jesse Go and Comedy and Everything Else and loved him on both. I honestly was just trying to remember the name of the funny dude I had heard so much of when I logged on here and who did I see looking right back at me? Some guy in an awesome vest. "Fairbanks!" will have its cd release party Thursday April 8th @ "The Josh and Josh Show" at Bar Lubitsch featuring Fairbanks, of course, and more fine comics. Copies of the cd will be on sale. Details coming soon.

I must agree with the original post: Rooftop has been dropping the ball a lot lately when it comes to promotion of their new CDs. I wouldn't have known about Graham's CD if I didn't hear the plug for it on Never Not Funny. And with this release, it seems to only be available in iTunes, which is bad form.

I much prefer the Amazon/iTunes/Zune/eMusic load out that better labels use to put their products out there.

Wow great stuff. I particularly love the fast-paced asides to the audience. As a document of a comedian riffing, this is up there with Freak Wharf. The difference is that, while Paul F. Tompkins riffs for fifteen solid minutes at the top of that album, Fairbanks throws out all these fast-paced ad libs throughout the set.

Truthfully, I feel this is one of those precious few albums that I would label an "alternative comedy" album if "alternative comedy" means taking risks and being in the moment.

One week from tonight, Chris Fairbanks' comedy special "Fairly Uncertain" airs on Fuel TV (Monday, February 28th, 11pm). The performance was taped back in November at M Bar (original show thread can be found here).
