According to Hitfix, Comedy Central has confirmed a June 24th, 2010 air date for the first new episode of the revived "Futurama." Despite a brief contract dispute last year, the show is returning with its entire original cast intact. 26 episodes are being produced, and despite talk of the show potentially airing on Fox (its original home) first, it looks like Comedy Central will be premiering the new content exclusively.
I am experiencing all the excitement that Family Guy fans had when their show was revived, only unlike frat boys I burn with the nerdgasm joy of a thousand suns. This is fucking wonderful. The short run of movies were a blast, but I definitely thought the show had mastered the 30 minute format. AND I can dust off my once-obsolete Futurama spec script. This will RULE. Hooray! I can't wait.
This will be exciting. I agree with Dan, Family Guy has burned me out but I cannot wait for this day to come fast enough.

Sorry, my last day job I worked with a lot of former frat boys and as soon as they heard I was a comedian they would re-enact a Family Guy scene for me. It happened at least 8 times with 8 different guys like that. I have no defense beyond that. I know nerds who like it too, sure, I was just trying to refer to Futurama as more of an underdog due to its genre of humor being more niche. I think that much is true at least.
its definitely collegehumor. i know when i was finishing school, i couldn't get away from family guy quotes/recaps and big lebowski quotes.

Whoa. I had no idea the intro was based on anything. That's kind of cool.
I love Futurama probably more than any other animated show, and I'm glad it's coming back. On the other hand, between the mediocre movies and the last 10 years of The Simpsons, I'm not getting my hopes up. Part of me wonders if I shouldn't just be happy with 4 perfect season box sets. Cautious optimism.
I think we'll be just fine when they make 22 minute episodes instead of movies.
Did they ever break up the movies into episodes or was that just a waste of time and headaches for the staff?
They did. CC has been airing them that way.

Yeah, I went to a table read a couple of weeks ago and the episode [title redacted] is super-funny and great.
I could be wrong...but I feel like those movies were made with a skeleton crew. It was a lot less writers, and a lot less punching up through the writer's room.

I've got my fingers crossed. I didn't think the movies were all that bad, except for "Bender's Game" and the end of "Green Yander". Based on the newest commercial though I'm a little worried they may be trying too hard to be edgy. Definitely gonna be watching.
