Go: PFT in ATL for DVD

Somewhat incomprehensibly, Paul F. Tompkins' shows at the Laughing Skull in Atlanta, GA this weekend are not sold out. If you are even remotely in the vicinity (I'm looking at you, Kentucky) do yourself a favor and attend one of these engagements; they are being video recorded for a DVD and Comedy Central special, so at some point in the future you will be permitted to smugly tell others, "I was there."

Eight shows, tonight thru Sunday. Want tickets? This is how you do it. (Or call 877-LAFF-AT-U. I'm not kidding.)

I'm driving from Charleston, SC and could only convince one other friend to come with me. I tried to get my friend from Orlando, who introduced me to Paul F. Tompkins, to come and he used some lame excuse about his girlfriend having surgery on her jaw. I pledge to get more of my friends to come with me.

First reports are in from tonight's show, and it sounds like Paul's newer, more storytelling-based material is great (maybe it isn't all that new, but I haven't seen him perform in at least a year, and the descriptions sounded new to me). My brother went with a group of friends, and noted that the turnout was light, but the taping doesn't begin until tomorrow, so tonight's show was just a dry run for the DVD. Step up, Georgia ASTers, and fill out the rest of the weekend's shows!

I will be in attendance friday night and will probably go saturday night as well. i certainly hope people make it out to see one of the best(PFT, if you zoned out) doing it today. A great local comedian named jon williams is doing a guest set sunday night, i would go support but i have to work at the blondie concert, which would be fun if it was 1982.

The Laughing Skull Lounge adjacent to The Vortex Midtown location is a great room. I have seen Maria Bamford there and recently saw Andy Kindler.

I have been texting with Jon, who attended tonight, and he said the material Paul is bringing is great.

Comedy Fans, come out and support PFT!!

I called a bunch of my Chattanooga friends to try to get them to go, but they're all too lame. I would be so at this if I still lived there.

Bought tickets last week for the Saturday late show, before the promo code showed up. I'd have bought tix to go every night (just to fill seats and show support) if'd only I hadn't been so anxious to buy tickets. Oh well.

I just arrived at the Laughing Skull, this place is literally a closet the chairs are arranged in a half circle around the stage with no tables. I see 3 cameras in the back and I assume there will be one on stage. This is exciting...

much like helen hunt makes jack nicholson want to be a better man in the movie, "as good as it gets," PFT makes me want to be a better performer. went to both late shows... friday and saturday night. this DVD will be awesome, i only hope they release it on VHS.

Holy moly, PFT was amazing. The set I saw him do wasn't being recorded and so he did a mixture of new stuff and some old bits (he did cake vs pie and then officially retired it). The room was great, and Paul was able to go off on flights of fancy, and the crowd stayed with him the whole time. So awesome.
