The Sklar Brothers
"Sklar Maps"

ASPECIALTHING RECORDS is delighted to announce the release of their next stand-up comedy album: THE SKLAR BROTHERS' "SKLAR MAPS." Randy and Jason Sklar, the St. Louis-born twins best known for their work on ESPN's "Cheap Seats" and more recently seen on HBO's "Entourage" and ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," have developed a distinctive two-man comedy style that blurs the line between traditional stand-up, sketch and improv, honing a give-and-go interplay that Neil Strauss of the New York Times described as "[reminiscent of] the Beastie Boys." On "Sklar Maps," the brothers explore their relationship with and feelings about their adopted home of Los Angeles and the entertainment industry in which they work. From nightmare club performance stories to tales of twin auditions, Randy and Jason marvel at the strange path they've traveled through show business, but they also take time out to appreciate the uniquely weird cultural accoutrements of the City of Angels, like knock-off supermarket Jons and the new real estate ad fad of "sign-flipping." As they put it, "This is a CD about what it is like for us to be us, in this business, in Los Angeles, in 2007." For the listener, it is a fast-paced, strikingly honest and hilarious ride.

ASPECIALTHING RECORDS is thrilled to announce the release of comedian Paul F. Tompkins’ debut album, “Impersonal.” In a hysterical set recorded live at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, Paul F. Tompkins delivers forty-five minutes of classic material culled from a stand-up career spanning two decades. With fan favorites such as “Elegant Balloons” and “Peanut Brittle,” Paul delicately treads the line between the intellectual and the absurd, striking a highbrow yet playful connection with his audience. Whether he’s explaining how jazz is a “genre of music that is defying you to like it” or regaling us with a chilling tale about a very strange stromboli, Paul leaves little room to wonder why he is one of the most beloved performers working today.

Prepare yourself for seven inches of comedy! Jonay Ray ("The Sarah Silverman Program", "The Freeloader's Guide to Easy Living") packs in the laughs on this limited edition seven inch gramophone record. If you've never been young and single in Hollywood ("ever heard of it?"), allow Jonah take you on a journey of discovery as he mines the social awkwardness and rampant self-loathing of hipster Los Angeles for humor, an adventure that takes him from "drunk alone" time in his apartment all the way to a game of "Truth or Dare" with an infamous rock star. Printed on deluxe colored vinyl, "This Is Crazy Mixed-Up Plumbing" was recorded live at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles.

ASPECIALTHING RECORDS is proud to announce its inaugural release: JEN KIRKMAN'S debut album “SELF HELP.” Recorded live at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, “Self Help” is a whirlwind tour of the foibles and fixations that have made Jen Kirkman one of the most beloved storytellers on the comedy scene today. From her apathy towards procreation to her myriad phobias (God, flying, zombies), Jen bares all to her audience, striking a delicate balance between sly self-deprecation and the earnest conviction of a zealot. On “Self Help,” Jen treats us to social embarrassments from grade school to adulthood, resists the urge to commit the perfect murder (then fantasizes about all the “me” time a long prison sentence would afford), and worries that God has forgotten about her -- because, in her words, “I've moved around a lot, and sometimes I wear a hat.”
